Society for the Environment (SocEnv)
Environmental Services
We believe in a sustainable future shaped by environmental professionalism through CEnv, REnvP and REnvTech registration
About us
The Society for the Environment (SocEnv) is an umbrella body licensing professional institutions to register their members as Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv), Registered Environmental Practitioner (REnvP) and Registered Environmental Technician (REnvTech) registrants. There are now over 7,500 registered environmental professionals across the globe. Both professional registrations above require individuals to demonstrate their skills, experience and knowledge of the environment and sustainability by demonstrating how they meet the key competences outlined in the application process. 24 professional bodies are currently licensed to carry out assessments for registering a CEnv, covering engineering, construction, environmental management, ecology, environmental sciences, agriculture, fisheries, water, energy, wastes and resource management, surveying, arboriculture and forestry. Only professional members of recognised institutions are eligible to register as a CEnv, REnvP or REnvTech. The aim is to ensure that professionals whose activities have an impact on the environment exercise their skills and knowledge to minimise harmful effects using established best practice and innovative new approaches. To find out more about becoming a CEnv, REnvP or REnvTech - or indeed a licensed professional body, please visit our website: www.socenv.org.uk

We're so pleased to have contributed to the Institution of Environmental Sciences (IES) new collection of case studies: "Speaking up for science and the environment". The collection takes readers through the policy process, identifying how we can effectively engage with environmental policy at each stage. In our case study, we explore how our interdisciplinary Soils and Stones project brings together current and aspiring registered environmental professionals, united in calling for the value of soil and stone resources to be fully recognised within Government policy. We discuss the project's successes to date, as well as our key learnings/ advice for others when aiming to raise the profile of a pressing environmental issue for policymakers. You can view our case study attached to this post and make sure to check out the full publication on the IES website ➡️ https://lnkd.in/gkdvjyi6 With thanks to Joseph Lewis for bringing this excellent publication together! #soil #soilsandstones #SILOtoSOIL
