Sonnedix acquires two operational projects in Spain 🎉 We’re excited to share that we’ve acquired the Apolo portfolio, consisting of two solar PV projects totaling 81 MW with a long term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) in place. ☀️ Located in Sevilla, Spain, an area with an extraordinary solar resource, the projects have been operational since 2019 🤝 The SPVs have signed a 13-year Fixed Hourly Profile PPA with a reputable counterparty, solidifying our commitment to delivering reliable, clean energy to our customers. 🔋 The projects show significant potential for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) deployment, which the team is already exploring. With this latest addition, Sonnedix has 1.112 MW of operational capacity in Spain, reinforcing our position as a key player in the market. Our growth in the UK is providing a solid foundation for 2025 and beyond 🌞   Sonnedix broke ground on our very first project in the UK, a 4 MW plant, back in 2015. Despite humble beginnings, our Chairman Carlos Guinand and CEO Axel Thiemann had a vision for a Bright Future.   Ever since that first milestone, we’ve been on a continuous journey – expanding our UK footprint while enriching the communities we serve. Less than a decade later, we have nearly 300 MW under construction, and our commitment to sustainability and community impact is stronger than ever 💪   One of our biggest highlights in the UK to date has been the acquisition of our Aria portfolio of five solar projects, which will generate approximately 286 GWh of clean energy annually - powering 85,000 homes and avoiding 112,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions a year!   Alongside its significant contribution to the UK’s energy transition, the portfolio is creating nearly 300 green jobs and operating in harmony with local wildlife 🌱   Looking to 2025 we’re increasing our regulatory influence, having joined the country’s largest trade association, Energy UK. 📣 Sonnedix appoints Chief Digital Officer, in newly created role to spearhead innovation!    We are thrilled to announce the promotion of Simon Duckett to the new role of Chief Digital Officer, where he will oversee our digitalisation strategy, with a focus on implementing digital and AI tools and platforms, to position Sonnedix at the forefront of innovation for the renewables industry.   Our CEO, Axel Thiemann commented: “I’m delighted that Simon will be stepping up to the role of Chief Digital Officer, a move that is fully aligned with our ‘One Company, Many Careers’ mentality at Sonnedix. 📣 Sonnedix secures record EUR3.25 billion to scale its European portfolio Today we have announced two major refinancings that will provide significant financial flexibility and capacity to accelerate the development of our pipeline of projects across Spain, Italy, and France, while also supporting our expansion into storage. ✅ The first transaction has been provided by CaixaBank. Valued at c.EUR750 million, it refinanced our regulated 197MW asset portfolio in Spain, consolidating seven financings into one. ✅The second transaction worth EUR2.5 billion refinanced our portfolio of renewable energy assets in Spain, Italy, and France with the ability to expand the facility with new assets across Europe and the UK. This was provided by 15 commercial lenders and institutional investors. Crédit Agricole CIB and Santander CIB acted as co-financial advisors with A&O Shearman as legal advisor. Did You Know? Saharan dust can impact solar plants!   Earlier this year, we spoke with Euronews about the impact of extreme dust events on solar plants and the measures we take at Sonnedix to mitigate this risk across our own plants.   ✨Even small amounts of dust can reduce sunlight reaching solar cells by 15%, which can have a significant impact on the amount of renewable energy produced.   That’s why our operations and maintenance team work together with weather forecasters to plan cleaning sessions according to dust events and rainfall.   Thank you to our brilliant #OneTeam who continue to give our operating plants the care and attention that they need, even after construction is complete, to ensure sustained long-term operational excellence.    #SolarPV #RenewableEnergy #DidYouKnow #BrightFuture
