Updates

  • Blenheim Walk playpark update Have you heard the news? It’s all change at Blenheim Walk…as you can see, our contractor is hard at work. These latest snaps show the old surface is being replaced to make way for the new – don’t worry, the messiness is temporary but the fun will last forever! Keep a keen eye out for the colourful Big Four Play Fence, full of imaginative play opportunities for younger visitors, alongside a spinning Dice Daisy panel, and a cool array of new swing seats. When the works are finished, you’ll also discover some eye-catching new thermographic floor shapes including Snakes and Ladders and Hopscotch, as well as smooth new wetpour surfaces around lots of the existing equipment, making for a more consistent and interactive play experience for all. • The way we allocate and spend the council’s budget is guided by our residents and businesses. These priorities were shaped in the borough’s 20-year vision and strategic plan. We face significant cost and demand pressures with needs for our services at an all time high, but we continue to ‘Target Support to Make Things Fairer’ subsidising where we can to support or residents and parts of the borough that need it the most. • On Wednesday 15 January, we held an attachment and trauma training session at Riverside Family Hub for our Connected Carers. The session enabled our carers to gain awareness around how trauma can impact on a child’s early attachments to caregivers, and how this can impact on a child’s health and development.

  • ⚠️The weather warning for strong winds on Friday has been updated to Amber. Keep up to date with the weather and what you should do to prepare on the Met Office website: https://lnkd.in/d65eXr8 Storm Éowyn is expected to bring very strong winds and widespread disruption. We would encourage the public only to undertake essential travel, during the duration of the storm. Please do not visit greenspaces, especially in wooded areas as there is a chance of fallen trees and branches. It's also a good time to prepare for possible power cuts. More information can be found on www.northernpowergrid.com Unfortunately, the Friday Flea Market has been cancelled. #SouthTyneside
