  • Castelion a defense manufacturer based in El Segundo, California, has raised $100 million in equity and debt financing to ramp up prototype testing and scale production of its hypersonic strike weapon. The funding includes $70 million from a Series A round led by Lightspeed Venture Partners. The company has conducted three internal flight tests within a month and is working with the U.S. Navy, Army, and Air Force to develop a long-range hypersonic weapon designed for affordability and large-scale deployment. Castelion argues that mass-produced, low-cost hypersonic weapons will help the U.S. and its allies restore deterrence against China’s expanding military power by imposing a cost-exchange disadvantage on Beijing. What are your thoughts on this new funding? 💭

  • Sabah, a Malaysian state on Borneo, wants to become a regional hub for satellite assembly and space launches, but experts say success hinges on building an aerospace workforce and attracting global players like Elon Musk’s SpaceX according to the South China Morning Post. The project aligns with Malaysia’s National Space Policy 2030, but attracting companies like SpaceX will require strong regulatory and financial support. In addition, the state government last week announced a one-year feasibility study to assess Sabah’s potential as a space industry center. The project, first proposed in 2023, is backed by a memorandum of understanding with Ukraine’s Yuzhnoye State Design Office, a firm specializing in rocket technology, and Malaysia’s Sovereign Sengalang, a defense and aerospace company. What are your thoughts on Sabah as a regional hub? 👇 #SpaceHub #InsideSpace #SpaceX

  • AscendArc has raised $4 million in funding and secured a $1.8 million U.S. Air Force contract to develop small, mass-produced geostationary satellites. The company claims its satellites offer a tenfold reduction in cost per megabit per second compared to traditional GEO satellites, making them a cost-effective alternative to fiber and microwave in rural areas. AscendArc is targeting both commercial and military markets, with its satellites designed to meet U.S. Department of Defense encryption, anti-jamming, and secure communication requirements. #SpaceFunding #Satellites #InsideSpace

  • Planet has secured a $230 million contract with an undisclosed Asia-Pacific company to expand its Pelican satellite constellation, its largest deal to date, according to CNBC. The multi-year contract funds the construction and operation of satellites, giving the customer exclusive regional access while allowing Planet to license data elsewhere. “It is a momentum-building event. … It’s both our biggest deal ever and it’s a significant step for us into this satellite services business,” Planet CEO Will Marshall told CNBC. Planet expects the deal to boost revenue starting in fiscal 2026, with payments spread over seven years, as it accelerates the deployment of up to 32 next-generation Pelican satellites. https://hubs.la/Q034HGy00 #SatelliteInnovation #SpaceTech #EarthObservation

With $4M in funding, backed by Seraphim Space, Everywhere Ventures, Portland Seed Fund, Thermo, and Hunter Communications, we’re ready to prove that small GEO can be a game-changer. A huge thank you to our investors, team, and supporters who believe in this vision. Stay tuned. We’re just getting started! 🚀 #GEO #SatelliteInnovation #SpaceTech #AscendArc

  • Britain is investing nearly £25 million in Orbex to build and launch the country’s first domestically built orbital rocket from Scotland in late 2025. 🇬🇧 The UK government aims to capture 2% of Europe’s satellite launch market, estimated at $50 billion by 2033, potentially adding £1 billion to the economy. The investment follows a failed 2023 launch attempt and complements Britain’s broader strategy to develop a sovereign satellite launch capability. #UKSpace #OrbitalRocket #SpaceInvestment
