London Design Festival 2024 is just around the corner, celebrating London’s status as a global design capital! 🌟🎨 This year’s festival is set to highlight international talent and renew its mission to showcase creativity, innovation, and the power of design to shape our world. With a packed programme of events, installations, and exhibitions across key cultural institutions and design districts throughout the city, there’s so much to see. It’s International Day of Charity! 🤝💙🌍 Today reminds us of the important role charity and community play in our studio and industry. Each year, we dedicate time and resources to support charities at no cost. So far, we’ve donated unused product samples to The Sample Project and raised money for the Architects Benevolent Society and WWF through charity runs—but we want to do more. If you know of any charities or community groups in need of pro bono design help or volunteers, please reach out—we’d love to lend a hand.

We’re excited to celebrate this month’s work anniversaries, showcasing our team’s dedication and longevity—a true reflection of the supportive, creative, and thriving environment we nurture at spacelab_ 🥳🎉 Congratulations to Joe Bosson, Georgia Bond, Teresa Tognetti and Laura Mason who are all celebrating anniversaries! A huge thank you to all for your hard work and commitment to all of our studio projects.

Today, we say goodbye to our home at the depot_. We encounter the nostalgia that lurks behind all memories, it reminds us how far we have come and how we have changed. We remember all our colleagues, old and new and the friends that visited. The home-cooked team meals, giddy dogs and neighbours that came for coffee. There was local artwork for sale and a pub down the road where we’d stand outside well beyond closing time. We think of the fun times, countless catch-ups, epic events, groovy soundtracks, and piles of samples as we delve into project work. It is most certainly a place, though not one with definitive boundaries. It is an era, an entire decade detailed with moments, emotions and people. Who we are is ever-evolving and a new adventure awaits. As we leave one home, another door opens. We are excited to share our exciting next chapter! Watch this space!  👀

Accessibility and inclusivity within educational facilities are incredibly important. We’ve recently been working with the Royal Veterinary College to reconfigure their teaching laboratories at their Camden Campus to create an inclusive, accessible, sustainable, and modern environment for both students and lecturers. The laboratories have been specifically designed to enhance and enable the learning experience for everyone, creating an equal learning experience for all users. Last week marked the end of our pledge to #PlasticFreeJuly so here are 3 things we've learnt along the way and 3 tips that spacelab_ will be taking forward ♻️🌎🌱💚 3 things we've learnt: – It's not easy! It's really challenging, particularly when you're out and about for meetings and site visits, and need to quickly identify products that are completely free of plastic. Brands could do much more to aid our decision-making in this area. – It's expensive! If you've forgotten to pack your lunch from home, the plastic-free options tend to be food from independent retailers rather than bigger brands. This is amazing for small businesses but less good for people's pockets. – Preparation is key! To take the control away from the bigger brands, it takes time to do your plastic-free weekly shop and prepare your food and snacks for when you're on the go. 3 tips to become plastic-free: – A problem shared is a problem halved. We will continue requesting that all CPD lunches be provided free of plastic. – Continue our improved habits. If you're a coffee lover, always have a KeepCup in your bag along with the obvious refillable water bottle. – Ditch the single-use plastic bottle. Aluminium cans are better for the environment than plastic as they're more easily recycled, so switch that bottle for a tinny.

Together, we transformed their existing PR Showroom in Greater London House into a dedicated multifunctional space that enables ASOS to create content, hold intimate activations and events for ASOS and its brand partners, and host talent, all through a unique ASOS fashion lens.
