📣 Our aspen trees are flowering! 🎉 Thanks to a spell of sunny and warmer weather, along with all of the hard work of our nursery team and volunteers - we’re delighted to see that the male and female aspen trees in our nursery are flowering ✨ In Scotland, native aspens rarely flower or set seed naturally. That’s why we’ve created a special ‘seed stand’ in our polytunnel, carefully managed to encourage seed production. Now, our nursery assistant, Heather, has the delicate job of collecting pollen from the male trees and hand-pollinating the female trees by brushing it onto their catkins.
