UKEVENTS to Showcase Industry's Impact at Parliament Exhibition   UKEVENTS, the umbrella organisation for the UK events industry, is set to host an exhibition in the Upper Waiting Hall of the Palace of Westminster from 3-6 February 2025. This exclusive event will provide a unique opportunity for Members of Parliament to engage directly with industry leaders and understand the crucial role of the events sector in driving economic growth and fostering community development. The exhibition will highlight key industry achievements, including: ➡️ £61.653 billion annual economic contribution from customer spend ➡️ Over 700,000 jobs in the creative, hospitality and visitor economy supported across the country ➡️ In excess of £200 billion in trade, inward investment, science, innovation and knowledge exchange facilitated Glenn Bowdin, Chair, UKEVENTS, emphasised the importance of face-to-face engagement with parliamentarians. He said: "Direct interaction with MPs is vital for our industry's future. This exhibition allows us to showcase the events sector's significant economic impact and its role in promoting innovation, attracting international visitors, and creating jobs. “By engaging with parliamentarians in person, we can effectively communicate our industry's needs and potential, ensuring that the UK remains a leading destination for hosting world-class events." The exhibition will facilitate opportunities for parliamentarians to have one-on-one discussions with industry experts representing UKEVENTS and covering all aspects of business and outdoor event activities. Very pleased to announce that the Office of the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards has today confirmed the reformation of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Events, which will now be added to the official register of APPG’s in Parliament.   Thank you to Shaun Davies and his Parlimentary colleagues for their support in getting the APPG back up and running following the general election. Martyn’s Law has progressed through its second reading in the House of Lords and will now undergo scrutiny at the Committee stage. The law will introduce new safety responsibilities for venues and public event spaces across the UK. 📢 Update on the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Events (APPG) The inaugural meeting of the APPG for Events took place in Parliament on 17th December 2024. Key outcomes from the meeting include: Shaun Davies, MP for Telford (Labour), was formally elected as Chair. Officers Elected: Jack Rankin, MP for Windsor (Conservative) David Baines, MP for St Helens North (Labour) Gill German, MP for Clwyd North (Labour) In addition, Davies Tanner, through its The Business of Events Think Tank and Advocacy Network, has been confirmed as the Official Secretariat and Special Advisors to the APPG. The necessary documentation to formally register the APPG in Parliament has been submitted to the Office of the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards, with confirmation anticipated within the next 5-7 working days. 📌 Corporate Membership Now Open Applications for corporate membership of the APPG are now being accepted. Department for Culture, Media and Sport and Department for Business and Trade have launched a consultation today (10th January 2025) on new measures to protect fans relating to ticket pricing and reselling. The consultation is seeking evidence from the general public (link below to the press release), together with a call for evidence from the live events sector (they note "For the purposes of this call for evidence, the live events sector refers to a broad range of events, including music concerts, sports events, theatre performances, festivals, and other live entertainment experiences."
