About us
United Response is an award winning charity supporting people with learning disabilities, mental health needs or physical disabilities to take control of their lives and to get involved in their community. Following the Grenfell Tower tragedy, our head of health and safety, Shonagh, has implemented some innovative approaches to ensure disabled residents can safely escape in the event of a fire, without the need to rely on ‘stay put’ procedures and fire service assistance. Every building where United Response staff work has a workable, rehearsed fire evacuation plan, along with personalised plans for each individual. ⬇️ Read more in Shonagh's feature article for The British Safety Council.

We were pleased to contribute evidence to the House of Lords Public Services Committee's "Think Work First” report, sharing the thoughts and experiences of people we support and our dedicated supported employment staff. One of the best parts of our work is supporting someone to meet (or even exceed!) their aspirations, and watching as their confidence grows. The report says that supported employment can be “transformational” and we totally agree – we see this every day. Read our full response to the report, and find out how you could set up a supported employment placement in your business ⬇️
