Our latest #BlackHistoryMonth blog comes from Hilda Adun who discusses how Coventry University Group’s Black Interns Project (BIP) is shaping careers for Black students: Launched in January 2022, BIP is designed to address the lack of cultural diversity in the UK workforce. The initiative provides paid internships and placements for students identifying as Black Caribbean, Black African, Black British or of mixed Black heritage, helping them to start their professional careers. Since its inception, BIP has engaged over 2,000 students, with 62% of participants being postgraduate and 38% undergraduate students. The project's success is driven by partnerships with major brands like Kellanova (formerly Kelloggs), Ralph Lauren and Morgan Stanley, as well as innovative organisations such as Vanguard Economics, Playground Games and more. These collaborations have facilitated up to 50 placements in the past year, many of which have transitioned into full-time positions. Hilda Adun, Project Manager at Coventry University Group, leads the Black Interns Project. She has years of experience in marketing and business strategy across Africa, India and the UK, and a key aspect of her role is to collaborate with employers, strategic partners, students and wider stakeholders to gain their support and successfully deliver the project. Visit https://lnkd.in/ejwr3FM6 to hear from Hilda about the importance of university-led programmes that actively address inequality in the workforce. #BHM
