We are incredibly proud of Jessica Hayman, Trainee Site Manager, who has been awarded VINCI Facilities Apprentice of the Year in celebration of National Apprenticeship Week. This fantastic accolade is a reflection of her hard work and dedication. We caught up with Jessica to learn a little bit more about what it’s like being an apprentice with VINCI Facilities. Jessica said: “I joined VINCI Facilities in May 2022 as an Operational Support Grade (OSG) within HMP Eastwood Park, escorting contractors around the prison. I also helped the team to complete a large-scale new build project. “I learned about the apprentice opportunity through a member of the senior management team and received a recommendation to join the scheme – which was really encouraging and motivating. The construction industry has so many different avenues and there is always something new to learn. "I want to see more women in the construction industry, especially in senior management roles. I feel as though I can set an example. Site environments can be daunting but I have never shied away from asking questions. Learning on the job is about finding your feet and growing your confidence. My long term goal is to be a project manager. “Receiving this award is amazing, it’s a result of the time and support people across VINCI Facilities have given me along my journey. I am so excited to take VINCI Facilities into the future. I am exactly where I want to be.” Paul Cottam BEng(Hons), CEng, MCIBSE, MEI, VINCI Facilities Managing Director said: “As a past apprentice, I am always so pleased to learn about this generation of VINCI apprentices succeeding and thriving with us. It isn’t easy. You have to learn quickly and put in the time and effort – but the support that Jessica’s team has provided has given her the confidence and motivation to succeed. This is reflective of the young careers ethos we have throughout our business. On behalf of everyone at VINCI Facilities, well done Jessica, we are delighted that you have been recognised for your unwavering commitment.” One of Jessica’s nominees summed up her work ethic perfectly: Jessica is a team player and truly understand the meaning of working as part of a team. Jess has earnt the respect of her fellow managers and supply chain teams by being consistent with messages and working with integrity.” #nationalapprenticeshipweek #integrity #awardwinner #vincivalues #youngcareers #apprentice #success #apprenticehip #careerdevelopment #welldoneyou

VINCI Facilities has been awarded a place on procurement provider Pagabo’s new Total Facilities Management Framework covering UK public sector organisations, including education, leisure, healthcare, emergency services and local authorities. It will run until January 2029, with a total estimated value of £814m across soft, hard or total (combined) facilities management services. This achievement continues our business wide successful relationship with Pagabo as parts of our wider company are already on four of Pagabo’s frameworks (Major Works, Medium Works, Refurbishment & Refit and Demolition & Remediation) so the FM services is an excellent addition, giving customers the opportunity to invite VINCI to tender for all their built environment needs. Paul Cottam BEng(Hons), CEng, MCIBSE, MEI, Managing Director, VINCI Facilities said: “Procurement can be a complex and time-consuming process. Being part of this framework provides us with a clear-cut route to a wide range of public sector organisations that require our expertise. Congratulations to Imogen Gilligan, Technical Apprentice, VINCI Facilities, who recently completed her engineering apprenticeship. Imogen was treated to a surprise congratulatory cake by her team mates at the end of last year, after three years of hard work to gain her qualification. For Imogen, it all started when she was a child, helping her Dad out with DIY around the house: “I have been with VINCI Facilities for six years. I started out on an administrative apprenticeship but while my Dad was in the POWERTEST team he asked if I would like to shadow Jordan Lambe, one of the other engineers, to get an insight as to what an engineer’s job entails. "I’ve always enjoyed doing practical things and learning about how things work and how to fix them when they break – so I said yes! “The rest is history really. I carried out my apprenticeship in the POWERTEST team and now work on the Currys plc’s and the Canal & River Trust contracts. I get to travel around the country which is amazing. I really enjoy the installation side of things and working alongside Senior Supervisor Steven Davis has been amazing. I suffer with anxiety and Steve helped me to build my confidence. He always told me to believe in myself. He knew what was going on in my head when I was struggling and his support has been incredible. “Being a female in this field can be tough. I will never forget a customer in Curry’s making a sexist comment as I was working but not long afterwards, I saw a little girl point at me and overheard her say to her Mum: I want to be like her. Both experiences stuck with me and made me stronger and more determined. “I was the only girl in my class and my college teacher was honest about initially not being sure how to interact with me – he was so used to teaching a roomful of young men. I know it sounds silly to say as why would he need to treat me differently? I think he realised this pretty soon and was an incredible support to me throughout the process. “I haven’t stopped smiling. I now feel like a real grown up! I just need to complete my testing qualification to fully test electrical equipment on my own and then I will be fully qualified. “It has been a challenging few years and sometimes I have loved and hated it in equal measure! But everything was worth it. I am so excited about my future.” #apprenticeship #engineeringapprenticeship #thisgirlcan #womeninengineering #apprenticeshipsuccess #careers #training #education #career #jobs #engineering #skills #traineeships #apprenticelife #skillsforlife #courses #college

The VINCI Facilities Customer Response Centre, based at Denton, Manchester, embraced the holiday season spirit of giving and got involved with a local charity drive - Project Joy. Amey Burnley, Interim Team Leader / Senior Customer Services Representative and other members of the Denton team took part in SOMAD days over the summer at the Together Centre. While there, they learned about the incredible support the Together Centre offers families struggling to make ends meet, elderly people who are unable to leave their homes and food drives which ensure 40 local school age children receive lunches during the school holidays. Moved by the Centre’s work and inspired to do more, Amey rallied a team of colleagues including Jacqueline Ivell, Clair Cooper, Steve McClure and Rebecca Savill to help out in the Centre this month. Amey said: “While I was working in the food pantry, which enables vulnerable families to collect two bags worth of food on a weekly basis, I overheard a little girl ask her Mum if Father Christmas would visit them this year. Her mother, who was clearly quite emotional said she wasn’t sure if he would be able to afford to get to their house this year. That broke me. I had to walk away for a moment. I just thought – this really can’t be.’’ “So I decided to do something about it. Along with the support of so many people at Denton we collected toys and money to split between the Centre - for the families who rely on the foodbank and school holiday meals, and the woman’s refuge opposite The Together Centre.’’ “We also collected coats and winter wears to donate. We just wanted to make a difference. No parent or carer should have to worry about their child missing the magic of Christmas. It is unimaginably painful.’’ “Thank you so much to everyone who helped us with this project. You will have made such a difference to so many and made lots of little faces light up on Christmas morning.” #teamwork #giving #christmasgifts #christmasmagic #makeadifference #charity #getinvolved

As part of VINCI Facilities delivery to the Defence Estate in the South East of England we are focused on having a positive and sustainable impact. Our Sustainability team has recently launched Project Life to support our biodiversity ambitions. Project Life is a contract long commitment aimed at improving and increasing green spaces to benefit the support of wildlife across the defence estate. Having worked closely with Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), and our on-site customers, we were recently ready to launch our project pilot at Bicester. The team used volunteer days from VINCI’s SOMAD (Stand Out Make A Difference) scheme and with support from colleagues from our supply chain partner, Tivoli Group Limited, helped deliver Phase 1 of the project. This included the building and deployment of wildlife housing structures to support the rich ecosystem already present on the site. A special mention goes to the Tivoli team for their support in collating materials, and their involvement during the SOMAD day. Keep an eye out for the next phase of this project! #vincidefence #sustainability #environment #biodiversity #nature #volunteering #collaboration

We ranked first-place in the Sustainability Facilities Management Index's (The SFMI) 2024 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Audit. The SFMI is the UK’s leading sustainability benchmark for FM providers. Since its introduction in 2013, it has assessed how FM companies integrate sustainability into their strategies and offering to customers. VINCI Facilities is exceptionally proud to have recently been presented with the UK Ministry of Defence Employee Recognition Scheme’s (ERS) Gold Award. This award recognises employers who have made the commitment to both sign the Armed Forces Covenant and have gone above and beyond in supporting Service Communities, including Service Leavers, Veterans, Reservists, Cadets, and their families. Supporting the Armed Forces community is incredibly important to us, and we have made a strong commitment and pledged to be an advocate of this, not only across our wider group but also all those we work with. A key component of the Armed Forces Covenant, and Employer Recognition Scheme, is to acknowledge that our Reservists and Cadet Force Adult Instructors play a crucial role in sustaining the strength and resilience of our country, and more directly our business. As a signatory to the Armed Forces Covenant, we have made a promise to treat those who currently serve, those who have served, and their families, fairly and with respect. We are absolutely delighted to be recognised in this way, but it will not stop there, we will continue to seek further ways to support our Armed Forces community. On receiving the award, Stuart Grout MBE CMgr CIWFM, MICW, MSOE, VINCI Facilities Defence's Operations Relationship Manager said: “Having completed a proud military career of over four decades as a Regular and latterly as a Reserve, I am delighted with the way VINCI Facilities, who I joined two years ago, support our Armed Forces community." “Our participation in the MOD Employee Recognition Scheme, and the journey to achieving this Gold award, is another proud moment for me - it's clear my decision to join the VINCI Facilities Defence team was a good one!” Stuart added: “It was important to me that a move into a civilian company did not mean straying from the values and standards that I, and all service personnel live by. This award was achieved through a steady demonstration of exactly that, which once again makes me proud of those I work for, and with." If you are a business which has considered signing the Armed Forces Covenant, please make this commitment, you will not regret it. Not only does it make good business sense it also helps those who have, and still serve, our country so well. #GoldERS24 #EmployerRecognitionAward #ArmedForces #ArmedForcesCovenant #CareersinFM #FM South East Reserve Forces' & Cadets' Association Reserve Forces' and Cadets' Association for Greater London BuildForce Programme Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) Defence Relationship Management (DRM) UK Ministry of Defence
