Very much looking forward to Violet Manners HeritageXplore joining our expert panel today hosted by our Chair Victoria Borwick. Up for discussion include the importance of our heritage - a huge draw for both domestic and international visitors - to our #tourism offer. This year has flown by, and the last weeks of 2024 are packed! Today I’m honoured to speak at the House of Lords alongside VisitEngland Visit Britain on a panel about the importance of heritage to our tourism sector and the local economies which they sit —a timely discussion, especially given the recent budget and penalisation of historic houses. Afterwards, I’ll be heading to Ireland for another panel at Maynooth University on “Preserving the Past and Looking to the Future.” I’ve managed to put together the dream itinerary seeing four historic houses along the way. There’s also my first investor update and plenty more to prepare for. Amidst the emails and endless to-do lists, this lovely photo landed in my inbox as a welcome pause, taken by my friend @phoebedickinsonart during portrait sittings at Belvoir last year. ✨ Dotty made the cut of course!

With nearly one in four people in the UK living with a disability, accessible tourism is not only an ethical imperative but a strategic growth opportunity for the tourism industry. Travellers with accessibility needs are often highly loyal, returning to places that cater to their needs. Our Accessible and Inclusive Tourism Toolkit offers a practical guide for operators in making services more inclusive, regardless of where they are on their accessibility journey. Designed to boost business confidence and provide clear steps for progress, this toolkit is a comprehensive resource for integrating accessibility into all areas of service. With practical insights into removing barriers and creating a genuinely welcoming experience, the toolkit helps businesses tap into this significant demographic while building loyalty with existing customers. Key Areas Covered in the Toolkit • Customer groups and how to remove barriers. • How to provide an inclusive welcome with integrity and empathy at its heart. • The availability of inclusive features and facilities (whether physical, digital or operational). • How to market your accessibility to potential and existing customers. • How to become a more inclusive employer and create an inclusive culture within your business. • Measuring success and ensuring accessibility journey accountability. • The support bodies, influencers, awards and schemes to help you best communicate and celebrate your accessibility. By prioritising accessible tourism, businesses can drive growth and attract loyal customers. https://lnkd.in/efcj-TpP
