The Network for Women Working in Social Housing

About us

WISH has its roots in London – being born when Founders Nicola and Debra, both based in outer London, decided to start an informal networking group specifically for women working in social housing. As the London Region tends to have members from all over the South East, we try to hold our events as centrally as possible – always within easy reach of a tube or train station. Our events are currently held in the evenings, usually starting about 6pm. Our very first meetings over 10 years ago, were held in a small wine Bar in London’s West end and then we relocated due to increasing popularity, to a bigger venue near Waterloo. Initially based around informal networking over a glass of wine, the events – due to popular demand – quickly became more structured, often with guest speakers. These days, our events are held in a variety of venues, many in the offices of Organisations who generously sponsor the evening. We have had a whole variety of events in the London Region over the years ranging from ‘How to write the perfect CV’ and ‘Interview Techniques’ through to ‘How to think positively for success’ and the ‘Secrets of effective networking’. The London Board is made up of a real cross section of women from the sector. Both public and private sectors are represented and we are very grateful to a number of other individuals who are supporting us on specific national projects such as the Schools Careers Project and also our ‘Ambassadors’ helping to swell the membership numbers in the Region.

  • 🔦 Women in Social Housing (WISH) London Board Member Spotlight Name: Hony Premlal MBA CIHCM MIoL 🔥🌟👑 Board Role: [Chair] Length of time on the WISH board: [Board Member& Marketing Lead July 2019 –  Aug 2022, Co-Chair Aug 2022 – October 2023, Chair Oct 2023 – Present] Day Job: [CEO/Founder, Hony Premlal Consultancy; Chair, Eldon Housing; Vice Chair Somerset Co-operative Community Land Trust; Regional Group Member Chartered Institute of Housing SE& London; Mentor - HDN, CIH & WISH) “When I joined WISH as a personal member in 2015, I was at a pivotal stage in my career. I had just stepped into a senior leadership role as Assistant Director at Circle 33, but truthfully, I was battling with self-doubt. Public Speaking made me nervous, networking felt overwhelming, and interviews were intimidating. I had the ambition, but I hadn’t yet found my voice. WISH became a turning point in my journey. It gave me access to a network of inspiring women who believed in lifting each other up. Slowly, I began to grow in confidence—not just professionally, but personally too. I started speaking up in rooms where I’d previously stayed quiet. I built valuable connections. I began mentoring others. And eventually, I started to thrive. Today, I am proud to say that I wear many hats: I am the Founder and CEO of Hony Premlal Consultancy, Chair of Eldon Housing Association. I am also the host of my own podcast series, High Tea with Hony, where I spotlight inspirational leaders and champion authentic leadership conversations. And perhaps one of the roles dearest to me—I now serve as Chair of WISH London, having joined the board in 2019 as Marketing Lead, then Co-Chair, and now proudly leading the region. Through WISH, I’ve witnessed the power of sisterhood and solidarity. I’ve seen board members grow in confidence, step into bigger roles, and realise their full potential. I’ve watched women walk into our events feeling unsure—and leave with fresh inspiration, new connections, and often, new career opportunities. I’ve seen students and young professionals find a sense of belonging and possibility, sometimes leading to job offers and lifelong friendships. WISH is more than just a network—it’s a catalyst for change. It’s a safe, empowering space where women can be seen, heard, and celebrated. It’s where confidence is nurtured, voices are amplified, and dreams are made real. It’s where transformation happens. If you're not already a member of WISH, this is your moment. Whether you're at the start of your career or already in leadership, WISH has something valuable to offer. We are here to walk with you, to uplift you, and to help you grow into the leader you’re meant to be. ✨ WISH planted the seed of confidence in me, nurtured it with connection and community, and helped me grow into a leader, mentor, and changemaker. ✨ 💬 “WISH gave me the courage to find my voice. Now, I help others find theirs.” Hony Premlal MBA CIHCM MIoL 🔥🌟👑

  • 👏 We're thrilled to hear about the success of our fundraising event at the WISH Winter Party. We were able to help cross the £8,000 mark with Pollard Thomas Edwards as part of their 50th celebration in support of Crisis. 🏆 The raffle for mentoring time was a fantastic initiative that raised £300. We were more than happy to top this up to £500 to support Crisis in their crucial work to tackle homelessness. We also were honoured to hear from Sarah Walters who shared powerful insights into the homelessness crisis and share how our fundraising efforts can make a real difference. 🌟 We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to this cause. Special recognition goes to our board member Rebecca Lee, whose efforts made this possible! #Crisis #WISH #Fundraising #Networking #WomenInSocialHousing Hony Premlal MBA CIHCM MIoL 🔥🌟👑 Michelle Donovan Anneka Gill Gavinder Ryait Janine Newton Violet Tariro Pugh ✨🌅Pippa P.
