  • Scotland’s forests are worth celebrating all year round.🌳 Their awe-inspiring beauty isn’t the only reason why we love them, they’re also helping tackle the climate emergency. Over the last 10 years, Scotland has grown over 180 million new trees. Scotland's forests also absorb a huge 14% of Scotland’s greenhouse gas emissions. Not only this, but forests help us live healthier lives. With 238 million visits to forests each year, our woodlands are popular places to go to de-stress and improve mental health. The NHS saves £30m each year in costs because people are improving their own health just by visiting forests. Round of applause for our amazing forests! • Star gazing is the perfect way to spend Earth Hour 2025.🌟 Galloway International Dark Sky Park is renowned for its breath-taking and rare stargazing conditions. An International Dark Sky Park is an area committed to protecting dark skies by controlling light pollution. Galloway is special due to its remoteness. On a clear night, over 7000 stars and planets are visible with the naked eye, and the bright band of the Milky Way is usually easy to see arching across the sky. Earth Hour takes place at 8.30pm on 22nd March, and we couldn’t think of a better way to spend it. 📸 VisitScotland / David N Anderson 📸 VisitScotland / David N Anderson 📸 Visit South West Scotland / Ben Bush 📸 VisitScotland / David N Anderson Forestry and Land Scotland #EarthHour #StarGazing #LetsDoNetZero

  • Groundbreaking research alert! WRAP have completed innovative research into the relationship between plastic packaging and household waste. Most fruit and vegetables are packaged together in single-use plastic, which is very harmful to the planet and can encourage us to buy more than we need. WRAP have discovered that if we take action to buy our apples, bananas and potatoes loose, rather than wrapped in plastic, we could help save 6,500 waste trucks of food per year and 8,800 tonnes of plastic! So, let’s get started and take this simple action this Food Waste Action Week. #FoodWaste #FoodWasteActionWeek #LetsDoNetZero
