📢 Exciting news! 📢 The Thames Catchment NFM advisory project has been extended until March 2027. The next phase of the project will build on the momentum of mainstreaming NFM in the Thames catchment, support the development of NFM projects in the most at-risk areas and continue to upskill stakeholders to promote and increase awareness of NFM techniques for managing flood risk. Alongside this, the Thames RFCC have ring-fenced a further £1.2 million of levy for the delivery of small-scale NFM projects with the next application window due to be in Spring 2025. About us
This WWT project, funded by the Thames Regional Flood and Coastal committee, aims to support NFM playing a greater part of overall flood risk management in the Thames Catchment. WWT’s Wetland Potential Maps are live! 👏 WWT, the charity for wetlands and wildlife, is calling for the restoration and creation of 100,000 hectares of wetlands by 2050. To help realise this ambition, they’ve developed the Wetland Potential Maps, which look at where new or restored wetlands would provide the most value to communities and nature across the UK. 🗺️ Their new evidence demonstrates that wetlands are one of the most cost-effective nature-based solutions. Restoring 100,000 carefully selected hectares of wetlands could provide £8.8bn in benefits over 60 years. 💷 Find out more at: https://lnkd.in/ern68Yik
