It’s been a busy and exciting 2 weeks at UCAS, with students receiving their exam results and making important decisions about their futures 🌟  We’re delighted that 82% of applicants secured their first choice university place and a record number of disadvantaged students were accepted onto a higher education course. Whilst many will be preparing to go off to university, lots are still considering what they want to do next – researching available university courses in Clearing and looking into potential employers and apprenticeships on ucas.com 👀  During the two-week results period, our Career Finder early careers job board has seen over 55,000 searches and 15,000+ clicks to apply. Meanwhile, our apprenticeships information and guidance pages have seen more than 500,000 views 📈 We can see trends in the industries and subject areas students are searching for across both Clearing and apprenticeship pathways on ucas.com, and also some key differences: - Many healthcare-related subjects ranked in the top ten university courses sought in Clearing on Level 3 results day including Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, and Optometry while Healthcare and Science is the most viewed of our apprenticeships industry pages so far over the results period 🩺    - Searches for Law, Accounting and Finance, and Computer Science/IT all rank in the top 10 across both pathways 💻    - On the other hand, positions in Engineering, Business, Marketing, and Sport are highly sought after by those seeking an apprenticeship on ucas.com during this period but do not feature in the top courses sought by those pursuing the university route via Clearing 💼 #ResultsDay #StudentInsight #HigherEducation #Apprenticeships

We’ve just released brand new guidance for aspiring apprentices produced in partnership with Support Connect to help neurodiverse applicants access support 👉 https://lnkd.in/eDX6bdZb  This new guide aims to help young people identify their challenges and access the support and funding they may need to succeed in their apprenticeship.  Support Connect connects learners with additional learning needs to the support and advice they need to progress and succeed. They also work with training and education providers and employers to make sure that they can deliver specialist support and adjustments.    We’re really proud of this collaboration which will empower more people to confidently explore apprenticeships pathways. And we couldn’t agree more with Caroline Fillery, Managing Director of Support Connect when she says "neurotypical and neurodiverse differences are widely recognised as the much-needed fuel for productivity, creativity and innovation." 🌟 #EarlyCareers #Neurodiversity #EDI #Apprenticeships

Last week we released our latest report, Next steps: What is the experience of young adult carers in education? 🎓    It uncovers the experiences and choices of young adult carers who are exploring university or an apprenticeship and includes brand-new insight from our widening participation questions introduced in 2023. Our findings show that young adult carers face significant barriers when accessing specialist support to transition into higher education and apprenticeships, with 65% of those interested in an apprenticeship not receiving support tailored to their situation. A reluctance to share their status as a young adult carer can prevent students from accessing the support they need, and female carers in particular lack the encouragement and support to make aspirational choices and see apprenticeships as a viable option.  The report, backed by the Carers Trust provides key insights to help employers and apprenticeship providers improve the experience of young adult carers 💙    Read the full report 👉 https://lnkd.in/e7xt4yeq     #WideningParticipation #CareerGuidance #Apprenticeships

City Century, a collaboration of over 50 City of London law firms, is working to empower students from diverse backgrounds to pursue a career they may have never thought possible 💪  This year, their current apprentices have been at some of our Discovery Events across the UK, inspiring Year 12 students as they explore their education and career options. Hearing from real-life apprentices has been incredibly valuable for these young people, offering them firsthand insights and encouragement 🌟 As well as meeting young talent face-to-face, they’re helping students understand what to expect from a solicitor apprenticeship with an Employer Profile on ucas.com and reaching a wide pool of candidates using our multi-channel campaigns.  Here’s City Century’s Joanna Hughes and Paul Lewis, Firmwide Managing Partner at global law firm Linklaters discussing what this means in terms of raising awareness of the solicitor apprenticeships pathway and ultimately changing the way that young people access the legal profession 📽 #Apprenticeships #EarlyCareers #FutureTalent
