💚 𝗚𝗘𝗙𝗘 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗽 💚 What an inspiring day at GEFE 2024! Students and industry leaders gathered for an event that celebrated innovation, collaboration, and a shared commitment to sustainability. Here’s a closer look: 𝟭) 𝗚𝗘𝗙𝗘 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀: Students tackled real-world challenges from three innovative businesses: 🌿 Eagle Technology AS: Developed strategies to introduce the Víxla system in Vietnam, focusing on sustainable plastic waste management. 🌿 Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH: Created a model using pyrolysis and Terra Preta to transform sludge into valuable, eco-friendly products. 🌿 Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP): Designed a roadmap for launching the Offshore Wind Industry in Vietnam. After months of hard work, ODYSSEY was crowned the Grand Winner, earning the Fully-funded Future Sustainability Leaders Award from Kuehne Logistics University (KLU). 𝟮) 𝗚𝗘𝗙𝗘 𝗦𝘆𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘂𝗺: 🌿 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘅 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲: Prof. Dr. Arne Heinold, Assistant Professor for Transportation at KLU, and Dr. Yuko Yasunaga, Deputy to the Director General and Managing Director at the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), analysed global environmental challenges and government responses. 🌿 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘅 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀: Mr. jeanjacques Bouflet, Vice-Chairman at EuroCham, and Mr. Vu Do Khanh, COO of The Policy Lab (POLAB), discussed the unique opportunities and challenges for Vietnamese businesses in promoting sustainability. 🌿 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝘅 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: Ms. Nguyen Ngoc Tuyet Trinh, Chief Communications Officer & Sustainable Development at L’Oréal Vietnam, and Ms. Tran Kieu Anh, Founder and CEO at Dong Dong Sai Gon, showcased successful sustainability initiatives. 𝟯) 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗮𝗳𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸: This panel discussion centred on sustainability, career development, and the importance of authenticity for students and young professionals. Moderated by Dr. Justin Michael Battin, Lecturer at RMIT University, speakers included: 🌿 Ms. Ha Linh Nguyen, Human Resources Director at Royal De Heus 🌿 Ms. Hong Duyen Do Thi, Country Development Manager at BASF Vietnam 🌿 Ms. Anh Tran Ngoc Quynh, Head of Human Resources at Bosch Vietnam 𝟰) 𝗝𝗼𝗯 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿: Students connected with over 200 leading businesses dedicated to green transitions, exploring various career paths. 𝟱) 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗿: Students engaged with universities and organisations from Europe and Vietnam, discovering academic opportunities in sustainability. 🌿✨ 𝗚𝗘𝗙𝗘 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗗𝗮𝘆: 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗛𝘂𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲! ✨🌿 We had an unforgettable day at GEFE Student Day with our GEFE Treasure Hunt—a unique adventure designed to inspire young minds while connecting them with the best of Europe and Vietnam's green innovations! Students embarked on an exciting quest across the 13 country pavilions and explored 200+ businesses in our exhibition hall. Their mission? Collect stamps from each booth while learning about cutting-edge sustainable practices—everything from eco-friendly tech solutions to responsible manufacturing and green energy. This fun, hands-on experience allowed students to engage with real-world businesses and discover how green growth is shaping our future. Through this activity, participants also received valuable exposure to the GEFE Job Fair, interacting with global industry leaders and showcasing their potential as the next generation of green innovators. For the companies, it was a great opportunity to meet fresh young talent—the future leaders who will build the sustainable futures we envision today. A huge thank you to everyone who joined the challenge and made it such a success! And a special shoutout to Cocoon Vietnam for sponsoring the prizes. Upon completing their quest, students could choose either a potted plant to nurture their green thumb or a set of Cocoon’s eco-friendly, natural products—helping them care for both themselves and the environment. 💚 𝗚𝗘𝗙𝗘 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰: 𝗔 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗹𝘆 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁! As GEFE 2024 has concluded, we want to acknowledge the collaborative efforts that made this sustainability-focused event possible. This year, we aimed to integrate practical sustainability measures into our operations, fostering meaningful discussions while demonstrating our shared responsibility towards a more sustainable future. 🌿 Glassia Water provided purified water in reusable glass bottles, significantly reducing our reliance on single-use plastics. 🌿 Waste stations provided by ECO Solutions Vietnam were set up to minimise landfill waste by pre-sorting all materials, facilitating easier recycling and disposal. 🌿 Our conference speakers and guests enjoy delicious juice and coffee made from local produce using sustainable farming practices from LES VERGERS DU MEKONG.  🌿 The Little Swing upcycled lanyards brought in by guests and old lanyards from GEFE 2022 into practical and unique items like tote bags, water bottle holders, and pencil pouches.  🌿 Our lounge and support centre showcased seating made from recycled plastic, reflecting a practical commitment to a circular economy. 🌿 We implemented a lanyard return box, encouraging attendees to return their lanyards for reuse and minimising waste. 🌿 Additionally, name tags were designed without plastic covers, further supporting our goal of reducing our environmental footprint. These initiatives highlight what can be achieved when we prioritise sustainability in our planning and execution.
