Congratulations to Leah Ellis (Cohort 2020) on being interviewed by Forbes. She discusses Sublime Systems' breakthrough process to produce carbon-neutral cement, the company’s plans for the future, and what got her into climate tech. “I have always been interested in climate. Growing up, I had a ‘save the endangered species’ coloring book and a ‘save the whales’ t-shirt was my favorite t-shirt,” Ellis told Forbes. “Chemistry is pure and utter magic. It’s a way of solving problems. Many of our problems are caused by chemistry, but they are also solved by chemistry, and as our knowledge of chemistry grows we have more ability to solve our problems.” Check out the whole interview here: https://lnkd.in/eq2wzMKy

Breaking news! AeroShield Materials (Elise Strobach and Kyle Wilke, Cohort 2020) has been selected for the $14.5M Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) SCALEUP award. This prestigious award provides additional funding to previous ARPA-E recipients who demonstrate a clear path to market success. AeroShield will use the funding to manufacture its aerogel materials designed for energy-efficient windows, with the aim of ultimately reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. This funding validates AeroShield’s innovative approach and underscores the critical role of advanced materials in achieving a sustainable future. “We know that windows present a weak point in building efficiency. With this challenge, there is also an enormous opportunity to reduce heat losses from windows,” said ARPA-E Director Evelyn Wang. “ I look forward to following their progress and commitment to making residential and commercial buildings more energy efficient.” Learn more about AeroShield’s innovative approach and the award here: https://lnkd.in/gZsd6asT
