⚡️Financing Nuclear ⚡️ The APPG was pleased to invite industry leaders and representatives from leading banks to Parliament this week to discuss the financing of nuclear energy projects. This meeting was part of our ongoing series exploring key aspects of the UK’s nuclear industry. With insights from infrastructure financiers, nuclear operators, and new nuclear developers, there was an in-depth discussion on the most effective ways to finance nuclear projects, the financial models best suited to different technologies, and how the UK can learn from the experiences of international partners in North America and Europe. At a time when the government is taking strong steps to accelerate nuclear growth in the UK, discussions centering on the most effective ways to finance nuclear projects across a range of technologies, from large gigawatt reactors to advanced nuclear technologies, are absolutely vital. ⚡️Nuclear Energy and Advanced Modular Reactors ⚡️ In the first Nuclear Energy APPG meeting of 2025, industry representatives and parliamentarians met to discuss Advanced Modular Reactors (AMRs) as part of our series of discussions focusing on specific areas across the nuclear industry. It was fantastic to hear first hand insights regarding the challenges impacting the deployment of AMRs in the UK and nuclear supply chain readiness, nuclear skills, and the financial and regulatory support available in the UK. ⚡️Nuclear Energy and the Industrial Strategy, Meeting Two⚡️ The Nuclear Energy APPG was delighted to welcome Sarah Jones MP, Minister for Industry at the Department for Business and Trade, to our second meeting on the Government's Industrial Strategy yesterday afternoon. Industry representatives returned to discuss with the Minister how nuclear energy can play a critical role in achieving the Industrial Strategy's mission, and what the Strategy can do to ensure Britain is able to deliver the nuclear we need to create long term stable economic growth.
