Our milling and paving crews have been working hard since May to repave a segment of Route 17 in Tappahannock, VA. Crews have successfully completed eight miles on northbound Route 17 and are finishing up 10.5 miles on the southbound side. Each direction also has eight-foot shoulders. The crews are paving about 2.5 miles a day, laying down between 1,800 and 2,500 tons of asphalt per day. The project is scheduled for completion late next week. Congratulations to the crews on working to complete another successful project in Virginia!

We recently welcomed students from Chester County Technical High School to our Cedar Hill Quarry CDL Driver Training Course. Our seasoned trainers provided expert guidance, demonstrating the intricacies of operating a dump truck and equipping the students with the skills they need to navigate the course confidently. The students thoroughly enjoyed this hands-on experience and gained valuable insights into the art of driving a dump truck. #WhatWillYouBuild

A group of Allan Myers employees volunteered at Habitat for Humanity Women's Build 2024 to build two different homes in Maryland. On Saturday, June 1, a group led by Aggregates Project Manager Nicky Morrison, P.E. worked in Aberdeen, MD, for Habitat for Humanity Susquehanna. This house build started in April with a foundation slab and the goal is to have it framed, roofed, and sided by the end of June. Allan Myers was just one of the teams involved in making this happen. On Saturday, June 15, a group of women volunteers worked in Silver Spring. MD. This was in collaboration with the NAWIC NoVa and benefits Habitat for Humanity Metro Maryland. The team was led by Project Engineer Isabela Noury. We have been participating in the Women Build event since 2019. Women Build is a multi-month event from April to June 2024 where women join together and complete affordable homes for Habitat for Humanity partner families.

Last week, our college interns in Pennsylvania volunteered at two amazing organizations. They spent their time at Sebastian Riding Associates, a therapeutic riding center for people of all ages with disabilities, and The Center for Loss and Bereavement, which supports individuals, couples, and families dealing with loss. The interns enjoyed improving both facilities and learned a lot about the valuable services these organizations offer to help our community. *Video credit: Brynn Barachie - Assistant HR Coordinator

We started construction on our sixth project at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI). The latest project, Taxiway Tango Reconstruction Phases 2 and 3, began at the end of May. These active projects will take us into the end of 2025 and continue to be critical to the operations at the airport. *Photo credit: Matthew Ruth - Project Manager

Thank you to Allan Myers for sending this stellar crew to help us with a couple of projects! They installed shelves and other organizational features in our shed and built a special race track to be used at Camp Millie. We were amazed at how friendly, focused, and efficient the crew members were. Our team is so happy with the improvements in the shed, and we know the kids at Camp Millie are going to be ecstatic about the race track 😊
