NASA has awarded Astrolab and its partners a contract worth up to $1.9 billion to advance the development of the Lunar Terrain Vehicle, which will help Artemis astronauts explore more of the Moon’s surface. Astrolab is one of three teams to win contract awards. We are excited that NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration intends to use Astrolab’s Flexible Logistics & Exploration (FLEX) rover for crewed operations beginning with Artemis V in 2029, and will use the rover on prior uncrewed missions, operating FLEX remotely from Earth. Our FLIP rover may have just gotten its ride to the Moon with Astrobotic, but FLIP initially made its debut back at the 2024 International Astronautical Congress (IAC) in Milan! There we unveiled our development prototype which shows the scale of FLIP and features full size wheels that will also be used on our larger FLEX rover. Very excited to announce our mission to the Moon happening this year! FLIP is going to help us validate many of our key technologies, software, and our operations approach. We also have several exciting payloads and experiments aboard that will help us better understand the lunar environment. John Thornton and the team Astrobotic have been great to work with and we're looking forward to getting wheels in the dirt very soon!
Astrolab is headed to the Moon with Astrobotic! 🌔 We’re proud to announce that Astrobotic’s Griffin lander will deliver Astrolab’s FLIP (FLEX Lunar Innovation Platform) rover to the Moon as part of Astrobotic’s Griffin Mission One (Griffin-1). FLIP will be deployed at the lunar south pole and is scheduled for delivery at the end of 2025. Read the full news release: https://lnkd.in/dqMZDbcR

Last year we added FLIP to our lunar rover family. Now FLIP has its ride to the Moon. FLIP, aka the FLEX Lunar Innovation Platform, will head to the Moon as a part of Astrobotic’s Griffin-1 mission. The Astrobotic mission, originally manifested with NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) initiative, is scheduled for the end of 2025. Read the full announcement: https://lnkd.in/dqMZDbcR

A NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration takeover at the Houston Auto Show! Last week, our NASA’s Johnson team brought space exploration to downtown Houston with a special NASA exhibit. It was an incredible opportunity to talk with the public and connect with Intuitive Machines, Astrolab, and Lunar Outpost, all three of NASA’s commercial partners developing the Lunar Terrain Vehicle for the Moon. Their innovations will help lead the way for Artemis missions and lunar exploration! Axiom Space also had their next-generation lunar spacesuit on display, which astronauts will wear during the Artemis III mission. Great milestones are ahead—I can't wait to see what we accomplish together! #GiantLeapsStartHere
