🌍 Exciting News from CCS+! 🌱 📣 We are thrilled to announce the launch of the CCS+ framework methodology! This globally applicable framework is designed for technology-based carbon capture and storage (CCS) activities that generate carbon dioxide removals (CDRs) and emission reductions (ERs); crucial elements for corporate net zero climate strategies. 📅 Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to advance CCS solutions. The modules for full DACS and BECCS project value chains are due to be released later this year. This will include tools to apply the methodology to hub projects. 📔 Read more about the new methodology here: https://lnkd.in/eUQ7s_Vt #CCS+ #ClimateAction #CarbonCapture #Sustainability #Innovation #NetZero #DACS #BECCS #CCUS #CarbonRemoval #EmissionsReduction #CarbonManagement #Verra

📅 The CCS+ initiative was represented yesterday at two major events for the industry, in two different European cities. We organised a side-event at the IETA European Climate Summit #ECS2024 exploring the role of the CCS+ carbon accounting framework in bridging voluntary and compliance carbon markets. Our Secretary General, Christiaan Gevers Deynoot, outlined how the CCS+ methodologies can help deliver robust, high-quality credits from industrial carbon management activities. Our panelists and CCS+ members Benedicte Caroline Storebø from Northern Lights JV and Will Barrett from 1PointFive provided insights from the project developer perspective on the importance of certification to scale the market for industrial carbon management solutions. Ian Kuwahara from Verra, the largest carbon creding program and the standard setter for the Initiative, announced the upcoming adoption of the first set of CCS+ methodologies, which will include the #DAC module. Our policy lead, Oscar Rueda, EMBA, was on the ground in Rotterdam at the 2024 Europe Forum on CCS organised by Global CCS Institute. He joined the ‘How to enable responsible CDR adoption through policy’ panel, where he highlighted three key principles for responsible CDR policy: prioritising steep emission reductions; proactively planning and developing a diversified portfolio of removals; ensuring the high quality and environmental integrity of CDR. He also emphasised that a robust carbon accounting infrastructure is central to ensuring high-quality, high environmental-integrity removals, and to fostering trust across voluntary, compliance, and international markets. #CarbonRemoval #CCS #CarbonMarkets #IndustrialCarbonManagement #ClimateAction

Earlier today, Verra hosted a webinar on the latest batch of draft carbon accounting methodologies from the CCS+ initiative. Over 230 participants! We very much welcome the stakeholder interest that CCS+ is garnering as we move towards adoption of the first methodologies for industrial carbon management pathways in the months ahead. A recording is due to be shared by Verra. Meanwhile, do submit your feedback as part of the consultation (deadline is April 15th).

🌍 Join us on March 28, 2024, at 10:00 am ET for a webinar about draft tools and modules that are intended for use under the “Methodology Framework for Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS)” in the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) Program. These modules and tools are currently open for public consultation until April 15, 2024. They expand the types of eligible carbon capture activities, differentiate carbon dioxide removals from emission reductions in projects with both types of mitigation impacts, and allow emissions accounting in collaborative CCS hubs where VCS projects include only a portion of the captured carbon. #ClimateChange #CarbonMarkets #CarbonCredits #Verra #StandardsMatter
