  • Congratulations to our Economic Development rock star, Josh Schneuker, on this well deserved honor!

We are happy to announce that Justin Hajek, Seguin Events Complex Superintendent, has been chosen as the City of Seguin’s Employee of the Month for October! Justin consistently goes above and beyond to provide support to his department in whatever way is needed - whether it's coming in early, staying late, or working well over a 40-hour work week to support the growing number of reservations at our facilities/parks for events and programs. Justin is a positive and inspiring leader who goes the extra mile for his team. When short staffed this fall, he worked events at the Rodeo Arena on weekends to give his team members time off. With a can-do attitude, Justin displays his commitment to Team Seguin, our community and citizens by providing effective customer service to ensure a quality experience. Justin is pictured below surrounded by his team after receiving his award from City Manager Steve Parker. CONGRATULATIONS to Justin on this well-deserved recognition!

  • City of Seguin Apprentice Lineman Nathan Thiry has completed the U.S. Department of Labor's 4-year Apprenticeship Program, along with 8,000 hours of required training, to become a Journeymen Lineman. The City’s Electric Utilities Department has had an approved U.S. Department of Labor Apprenticeship program since 2013. During this time, a number of qualified Journeymen Lineman have completed the rigorous program. This gives young men and women an opportunity to learn a trade without having to attend college. The Apprenticeship combines paid on-the-job training with classroom instruction to help prepare Seguin’s electric workers for highly-skilled careers as Journeymen Lineman. We congratulate Nathan on this achievement!

  • Congratulations to Library Supervisor Connie Gomez on being recognized as the city's Employee of the Month for September 2024! Connie's dedication to providing top-notch assistance to patrons who visit the Seguin Public Library makes her a true asset to the city organization. Her nomination highlighted two recent incidents when she came to the rescue to help citizens with medical situations at the library. After an elderly patron fell in the parking lot and gashed open his arm, Connie jumped into action using a first aid kit to wrap his wound until he could see a doctor. A couple days later when a man was found unconscious on the bathroom floor, she remained calm under pressure, staying with him until EMS arrived. The person nominating her stated, "There are many ways Connie cares for those who come through our library doors - whether they need knowledge in many forms or a place to connect with other people through an event, she is a big part of why the library is the heart of Seguin." Connie is pictured with Assistant Library Director Hannah Farmer, Library Director Silvia Christy and City Manager Steve Parker.
