The CCA-led Clean Cooking & Climate Consortium just released a NEW methodology. This methodology for crediting emissions reductions from cooking projects is the first such methodology to apply to all cooking transition scenarios. This work makes it possible for all project developers to use the same rigorous and trusted methodology when quantifying carbon emission reductions from #CleanCooking projects – specifically, those that would not have occurred without #CarbonFinance revenues. The public is invited to review and submit comments by August 2, 2024. Learn more: https://ow.ly/pGp850Ss03y

Management Team, Modern Energy Cooking Services (MECS) programme. Accelerating access to clean, electric cooking on a global scale.
Developed by the Centre for Research in Energy and Energy Conservation (CREEC), the Uganda eCookbook looks at the role energy-efficient cooking devices can play in Uganda's energy future. It is part of a series of MECS eCookBooks that seek to highlight the compatibility of energy-efficient electric appliances with local cuisine. The Uganda eCookbook has recently been updated with up-to-date electricity and cooking fuel prices, and shows that eCooking can still provide huge cost & time savings of up to 50% compared to charcoal cooking. BURN has secured a $15 million investment from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to help fast-track the distribution of our IoT-enabled ECOA Induction Cooker (IDC) to over 1 million households in East Africa. BURN has already brought our unique Pay-As-You-Cook electric cooking solution to thousands of households in Kenya and Tanzania that were previously relying on traditional charcoal stoves. This investment will help us transition over a million low-income households to cooking with electricity, allowing them to cook on grids that are 80-95% powered by renewable energy. Our IoT/SIM-enabled ECOA Induction Cooker generates the highest-integrity Gold Standard MMECD carbon credits. Black carbon, or soot, is a #SuperPollutant. It stems from the incomplete burning of wood and fossil fuels. Globally, nearly half of it comes from home energy needs, like cooking. By reducing black carbon, #CleanCooking saves lives and fights #ClimateChange. Climate & Clean Air Coalition UN Environment Programme
