#ThrowbackThursday   Today we joyfully look back at Casa Milagrosa’s Kermes Open House Fundraiser in December 2022. Being joined by our amazing supporters and donors, with less than a year of operation, we filled our Day Center with those looking to become more involved in our mission. We cannot begin to express our gratitude to those who attended our first fundraiser and all those who continue to support us today! We excitedly would like to invite you all to join us for our next Open House fundraiser - The Taste of Depaul, on Friday, August 9th, from 5 pm to 8 pm. Not only will you get an opportunity to see Casa Milagrosa and hear about some of our new and exciting projects, but we will also have samplings of our community’s eateries and caterers. Did you know that Casa Milagrosa received a United Way grant to make improvements at our day center? Stop by the Taste of Depaul - Open House to see our enhancements and learn about our LA programs. United Way works within communities and with non-profits to get the available care and resources to those in need and put them on a path to success. These enhancements, and contributions at the event will allow us to continue to provide next-level care-first programming to the guests of Casa Milagrosa. As the summer progresses, we invite our supporters and volunteers to sign up and join us for our upcoming events. To prepare for our “Taste of Depaul” Open House, we will have a deep cleaning of #CasaMilagrosa on Saturday, August 3rd. For those interested in helping us the following week, Friday, August 9th we will also need volunteers to help at our fundraiser. Volunteers for the evening will help serve food from some of our local eateries and restaurants, sell raffle tickets, and help clean our center as our network of supporters get a taste of what #CasaMilagrosa is all about! #motivationmonday Last Friday, the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority (LAHSA) announced the 2024 Greater Los Angeles Homeless Count results. LA County's homeless population dipped slightly to 75,312 in 2024 (down 0.27%), while the City of LA saw a bigger decrease to 45,252 (down 2.2%). While officials were cautiously optimistic about the results, they noted that one year of numbers moving in the right direction is insufficient to say the LA region has turned a corner in addressing homelessness. #newtrend #CasaMilagrosa #DepaulUSALA #Charity1633 #homelessnesshasnoplace

#ThrowbackThursday Today, we gleefully look back at a visit from USC’s Homeless Outreach Partnership for Education and Empowerment (HOPE2)! Some of the medical students of the club joined us last February to provide our guests with medical foot washing, a chance to check for any foot-based ailments, and a free pair of socks. Smiles and laughter can be seen being shared as our guests and student volunteers got a very different opportunity to connect. Having special event days like this helps remind our guests of the countless groups and organizations that are working to provide them with care-first services and aid.
