What an inspiring session yesterday with the WE Finance Code Community of Champions! It was a privilege to hear from true Code Champions like Chantal Korteweg leading Code implementation at Code-V Vrouwelijk Ondernemerschap in the Netherlands, Rosanna Ruiz driving the Code in the Dominican Republic through Asociación de Bancos Múltiples de la República Dominicana, Salome Tvalodze advancing the cause with Central Bank of Georgia, and Dina Moussa supporting the Code in Egypt and Morocco with EBRD. We delved into crucial discussions on identifying the right institutions to serve as Code Anchors. Should it be a private sector bank, as ABN AMRO Bank N.V. has done in the Netherlands? Or a banking association like Asociación de Bancos Múltiples de la República Dominicana in the Dominican Republic? Central banks, such as Central Bank of Jordan, Central Bank of Egypt, and Bank Al-Maghrib in Morocco, also play a pivotal role in many countries. Our goal is to build National Coalitions with both the public and private sectors to drive the WE Finance Code forward and ensure lasting impact. To learn more, visit https://lnkd.in/eT3gtPku A huge thank you to Wendy Teleki for your remarkable leadership in spearheading this initiative!

The business case for serving women with better financial services is clear with women expected to own 75% of the discretionary spending by 2028 (Nielsen) and to control over $216 trillion in wealth globally. Over 400 million women entrepreneurs around the world have the potential to grow their businesses, add value to the economy, and create jobs, but they lack the financing to achieve their goals. A credit gap valued at $1.7 trillion with a potential economic impact of up to $6 trillion. In our research, How Fintechs Can Capture the Female Economy, we found that by attracting as many women as men to their site, fintechs could see up to a 12% increase in revenue. In addition, by simply converting women at the same rate as men, fintechs could see a revenue increase of up to 70%. This session, titled “How to recruit your [women] clients”, is dedicated to highlighting key success factors in reaching women prospects, attracting them to access your platform/service, addressing key barriers to onboard them, and therefore converting them to clients who access your services, bridging as such the gap in usage and in access to finance globally. #joinus to hear firsthand from fintechs that implement key strategies that ensure greater access to their services by women: - Erin Louw from TymeBank - Ifeoma Uddoh from Shecluded - Patricia Florencia from Pilou DATE: August 30, 2024 TIME: 9-10 AM NYC / 2-3 PM London / 9-10 PM Singapore Register here: https://lnkd.in/ed8-xFg8 #championthefemaleeconomy #fintechfridays #fintechs #fintechfounders #femalefounders #Financialinclusion #genderintelligentfintech

The huge gender gap in the levels of equity funding accessed by entrepreneurs remains stubborn, with female founders receiving less than 2% of venture capital globally. To address this, founders, investors and other ecosystem actors speaking at the 2024 Annual Summit identified four of the most effective levers to getting more equity to female founders: 1. Get More Women into Investment Roles 2. Follow the Money 3. Create Tax Incentives 4. Integrate an Angel Strategy in Banks Read the full article "Summit ‘24 Insights: Plugging the Equity Finance Gap to Female Founders" and Watch the Summit Panels: - Angels and Women of Wealth Strategy - Venture Capital for Female Founders - Gender-Intelligent Fintech Design https://lnkd.in/dqkwqJmz #2024AnnualSummit #ChampionTheFemaleEconomy #InclusiveFinance #FemaleEconomy #FAforWomen #GenderIntelligentFintech #Fintechs #FemaleFounders #FinancialInclusion #WEFinanceCode Jenny Tooth OBE, Deepali Nangia, Marla Shapiro, Michelle Owen, Helen M., Hephzi Pemberton, Nina Mohanty, Triin Linamagi, Catherine Crump, Mo Harvey 夏飛鳴, Priti Rathi Gupta, Rachel Freeman, Tosin Eniolorunda, Inez Murray

Growing the women micro, small and medium enterprises (WMSMEs) portfolio requires a strong commitment to building their businesses and enhancing their appetite for leverage, as well as adapting operational policies and processes to reduce access barriers. The Alliance’s most recent Female Economy Analytics Survey (FEAS) proved that the holistic value proposition offered by members–access to finance, information, financial and business education, networks and recognition–works. Women’s share of loan volume in the SME segment recorded a 16% compound annual growth rate between 2020 and 2022, compared to 4% in the retail segment. Three key takeaways from among the best-in-class strategies shared at the 2024 Annual Summit: 1. Cash-flow based lending is a basic plank of any bank strategy to increase lending to WMSMEs. 2. Financing WMSMEs in the green transition requires strong measurement, staff education and affordable solutions. 3. From basic financial literacy to gender intelligent advisory services, non-financial service (NFS) must be tailored to market and segment needs. Our largest ever gathering of members convened in London earlier this month at our flagship Annual Summit for two days of unparalleled learning and networking. The treat of opening the London Stock Exchange kicked off a packed agenda of high caliber speakers, workshops and celebrations all with a common goal to unlock the power of the Female Economy. Much of the Summit’s focus was on supporting women to move through the entrepreneurial funnel – from starting up, to growing, to exiting a business – and the types of financing required at each stage, such as angel investment, debt finance and venture capital. Refreshingly candid sessions explored what it takes to close the gender access gap to all three capital sources. Discover key findings, awesome insights around innovations on debt financing to women led small businesses, the WE Finance Code, Data driving women’s financial inclusion, the amazing gender-Intelligent business models built by our fintech members, and many more...
