About us

The German Institute for Human Rights is Germany‘s independent National Human Rights Institution (NHRI). The Institute promotes the integration of human rights into domestic and foreign policy decisions and monitors the implementation of international human rights treaties by Germany. The Institute also supports and monitors the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (in accordance with Article 33 Paragraph 2 UN CRPD) and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and has established Monitoring Mechanisms for these purposes.
