A: 🧬Being called as a match means you are a close HLA match for a patient, but this does not always result in a transplant. First it must be determined exactly how closely aligned your HLA are with the patient’s. If you are requested by the transplant center to move to the next step, you will be asked for a blood test to be sure you are healthy and can donate. #Swab2Save #YouCure #CureBloodCancer

The Gift of Life Marrow Registry X CBRE Pickle for a Purpose Pickleball Tournament was a resounding success! 🎾 🌞 Together, we hosted a day filled with music, treats, and fun. However, the most memorable moment of the day occurred when Plasma Cell Disorder survivor, Jeff, met his blood stem cell donor, Matt. Matt was attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill when he joined the registry. Three years later, he received a call from Gift of Life, asking him to donate. Without hesitation, Matt agreed to help! Last week, he was able to meet the man whom he helped save. 🙌 Huge thanks to Pickleball Tournament Chairs, Mary Alex Turner, Clare Carona, and Neal Puckett and Executive Vice President at CBRE, Harlan Davis, for organizing. Tony joined the Gift of Life Marrow Registry in 2016 while visiting the University of Georgia and was called to donate in 2019!🧡 He is an outdoorsman who enjoys traveling, running, and hiking. He also loves to watch Survivor! Some more of Tony's hobbies include playing board games, reading, and frequently using his AMC movie pass. ✈️🌍📖 Tony was introduced to his recipient, Brianne, in March 2020 at a Nashville Predators hockey game.
