Exciting changes are coming to Uplift Northwest, one of Seattle’s longest-running non-profits, in 2025! Construction on seismic upgrades and interior renovations for the organization’s headquarters in Belltown, its home for the past 83 years, will begin soon. GLY is proud to partner with Uplift Northwest, along with SMR Architects and The Schuster Group, Inc., to "uplift" the unreinforced masonry building. This project will ensure that Uplift Northwest can continue to serve as a beacon of hope by providing pathways to dignified jobs and job-readiness services for people experiencing poverty and homelessness in the Puget Sound Region. The renovation will reorganize Uplift’s offices and service areas to meet the increasing need for services. The scope of work includes MEPF upgrades, a new elevator, roof replacement, steel brace frames, energy efficiency enhancements, a new concrete foundation, and updated finishes. GLY Design-Build Senior Project Manager Dana Johnson, DBIA, CM-Lean, and Associate Claire Shigekawa Rennhack of The Miller Hull Partnership, LLP served as panelists at the June 26 DBIA Northwest Region / SMPS Seattle event, Design-Build Done Right, to share their thoughts on organizing winning teams. Dana and Claire are the highly capable leaders of the Snohomish County, WA Food & Farming Center project, which combines the functions of a farmers market, food aggregation and processing, and an event center. Understanding unique project challenges and your clients’ priorities help inform what qualities and chemistry your team needs to possess. Check out this article by Peter Krech and David Malda to learn how Bellevue's new West Main "stands as a transformative force, reshaping the skyline and embodying the city’s evolution." We're proud to partner with Graphite Design Group and Vulcan Real Estate on this project!
Pleased to have had the opportunity to share Vulcan’s West Main Project in the Daily Journal of Commerce’s Landscape Northwest Feature through an article I co-authored with collaborator David Malda of GGN. “Natural passage: West Main reimagines the urban garden” discusses some of the conceptual underpinnings of the design and the project’s urban design and experiential goals. Great team, great process, great project – hats off to all who made it happen. https://lnkd.in/gZGskgVM
