Featured in The Wall Street Journal are the Lettered Street Intergenerational homes in the article written by J.S. Marcus titled “Want Your Retired Parents Close By? Build Them a House Next Door" | https://lnkd.in/gjBF_qyK The clients, a firefighter and a high school biology teacher, envisioned two new homes in the historic Lettered Street neighborhood in Bellingham, WA. One of the homes would be for them and their young son, and the other would be home to retired parents. The home owner acted as general contractor for both houses, building much of the houses himself. Last week over our lunch hour, GBA walked a few blocks up the hill to the Stimson-Green Mansion to practice our one- & two-point perspectives – scroll for some photos and sketches from our visit. Thank you to the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation for so generously inviting us to spend our lunch hour sketching the historic building's beautiful interior spaces! The Stimson-Green Mansion is a remarkably well preserved, elaborate home on First Hill. Construction of the Mansion was completed in 1901 and the “Eclectic” Architecture features a range of styles including English Tudor, Renaissance, Neoclassical, Gothic, Romanesque, and Moorish. The Trust (and the home’s previous owners) have kept the Stimson-Green Mansion in immaculate condition. Check out new photos of the Giddens School and Lake Washington Girls Middle School (LWGMS) complex, an urban educational campus located between Beacon Hill and the Central District neighborhoods of Seattle designed to host two private, independent schools. Though each school maintains its own identity, the schools’ shared commitment to innovation and connectedness made co-locating an obvious solution. Key design goals for the tightly integrated and program-driven for the 52,500-square-foot project include flexible and innovative spaces, student-centered design, and a building that is open and connected to the community and the natural world. https://lnkd.in/grapygAj Architecture: Graham Baba Architects Collaborating Architect: Anjali Grant Design Contractor: Exxel Pacific Photography: Lara Swimmer

Congratulations to our friends at Saint Bread for being included in The New York Times’ list of “22 of the Best Bakeries Across the U.S. Right Now” 🥖🎉 https://lnkd.in/gQxquE_A “There are few places more pleasant in Seattle for baked goods than this spot tucked by the shores of Portage Bay. The cardamom croissant is a laminated, convoluted delight, like a not-too-sweet kouign-amann. The cinnamon-Okinawan sugar toast is a pillowy slab of morning comfort. And no self-respecting breakfast joint omits an egg-and-cheese sandwich. This one comes on either Hawaiian bread or melonpan, a Japanese sweetbread domed with a thin cookie-like crust. Both bring a nice sweet-savory balance, especially if you’ve opted to add the Japanese-style smoked turkey sausage.” - Brian Gallaher / NYT 📸: Ross Eckert
