Dr. Deb Thorp has worked tirelessly to ensure that every patient feels welcome, included, and valued throughout her career. Dr. Thorp is a pioneer in gender health and LGBTQ+ care. She recently retired from direct patient care after nearly 35 years. As an OB-GYN, her career is filled with numerous honors and awards, but she told Lavender Magazine her biggest accomplishment was “meeting my patients where they are so that I can give them the best and safe medical options.” Dr. Thorp will continue as the medical director at our gender services clinic. When it comes to care and coverage, our teams work hard to deliver an exceptional experience every time. Because we know that a better experience leads to better health outcomes. So, it’s especially gratifying to earn the top spot in the J.D. Power 2024 U.S. Commercial Member Health Plan Study for the Minnesota-Wisconsin region. We’re the highest-ranked health plan in overall satisfaction in the region, besting the regional average score by 22 points. We ranked #1 in several dimensions evaluated in the study, including ease of doing business, our digital channels and our team. We’re honored to serve our community and proud to know the community rates us #1. https://bit.ly/4eDedgS

Our Juneteenth celebration united people from across our organization to commemorate this important day in our nation’s history. The event’s theme, “African Americans in the Arts,” highlighted local businesses with a focus on art. The day was a true representation of what makes our organization a place where everyone is welcome, included and valued.

Our teams aim to provide great experiences for everyone in our care. One way we're doing that is by improving experiences for patients of color by offering a new range of hair and skin care products. The team of Tamyka Carr, nurse educator at Regions Hospital; Heather Walters, health equity program project manager at Regions; Lily J., registered nurse at Regions; and Montreena Medlock, patient financial services manager at Methodist Hospital (not pictured), devised a two-part solution: getting the right supplies and providing education. “I have relatives and friends who have been patients and expressed how their hair was damaged due to a lack of good products available,” says Tamika Smith, staffing coordinator at Regions Hospital. “These products are a phenomenal addition, and a great help to our patients of color.” Thanks to the collaboration of our dedicated colleagues, patients in our hospitals will now benefit from a wider range of products and an educated team to help make their experience even better.
