🌍 Strengthening Trust in Tax Advisory 💼 The global push for ethical tax practices is gaining momentum. With The Accounting Professional & Ethical Standards Board (APESB) (Australia) and The The Independent Regulatory Board for Auditors (IRBA) (South Africa) adopting IESBA’s tax planning standards, ethics in tax advisory is being reinforced worldwide. These moves signal that responsible tax practices aren’t just regulatory expectations—they’re critical for business integrity, economic stability, and public trust. With the July 1 effective date approaching, tax professionals must ensure their practices align with these strengthened ethical requirements, fostering greater transparency and accountability. 🔎 Why This Matters ✔For Firms – Ethical tax planning is now a pillar of risk management and corporate responsibility. Proactively adopting these standards strengthens trust with regulators, clients, and investors while mitigating reputational risks. ✔For Businesses – Greater public scrutiny on tax behavior means businesses in these jurisdictions can build confidence in the integrity of tax advisory services. ✔For Society – Ethical tax systems support sustainable public revenues, funding healthcare, education, and infrastructure, and reinforcing corporate citizenship. 🌍 A Call for Global Alignment With trust at the heart of global discussions among international organizations and policymakers, strong ethical tax frameworks are more crucial than ever. As jurisdictions shape the future of tax governance, embedding robust ethics in tax advisory will be essential to reinforcing public confidence and transparency.

Wonderful news that the Australian Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (AUASB) has approved the adoption of the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB)’s sustainability assurance standard, ISSA 5000. IESBA welcomes the AUASB’s decision to adopt IESBA’s ethics standards for sustainability assurance, given the temporary absence of an equivalent Australian ethical standard. As The Accounting Professional & Ethical Standards Board (APESB) is expected to adopt Part 5 of IESBA’s Code (or the IESSA) into the Australian Code (APES 110) following the Australian due process, the AUASB’s decision clarifies that in the interim period companies subject to climate reporting and assurance obligations in Australia are expected to comply with both sustainability assurance (ASSA 5000) and sustainability ethics standards (APES 110 + IESSA). 📈📊 Learn more about these global standards here: https://lnkd.in/gUa5yMG4 #GlobalMomentum #Sustainability #Assurance #Ethics #AAASB #TrustInSustainability
