#InfosysFoundation has always focused on promoting traditional Indian art forms, aware of the role they play in preserving and enhancing a nation’s culture. However, the artists that perform these ancient art forms must also be nurtured. As the pandemic has taken away more than a crore of creative jobs, the Foundation wanted to provide artists a platform to showcase their talent and reignite public interest in these art forms, post the pandemic. Partnering with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (BVB), the Foundation conducted art and cultural festivals across eight cities, where 246 art forms were exhibited. About 47,000 people attended this festival in person, while more than 48,000 culture lovers attended virtually. As infrastructure plays a vital role for artists as well, the Foundation financially aided the renovation the Khincha Auditorium in BVB in Bengaluru, which has a seating capacity of 300 people, ensuring that it will become one of the top performance stages in the world. Similarly, to foster the South Indian art form, Yakshagana, the Foundation established a training and research center, constructed a hall for daily training, a library, a museum, and an auditorium with a seating capacity of 500 at the Yakshagana Kalaranga in Udupi, Karnataka. The provision of infrastructure for the Khincha Auditorium and Yakshagana Kalaranga, the organization of the art and culture festivals is a testament to highlight underrepresented artistes and provide the right platforms to showcase their talents and earn a living through a steady income. #InfosysCSR | #culture | #art | #yakshagana

The infant mortality rate in India was 42.9% in 2011 and significantly reduced to 25.5% in 2021. Being aware of the high infant mortality rate, the Government of India launched the India Newborn Action Plan in 2014, to ensure that stillbirths and neonatal mortality rates are reduced to ‘single digit’ by 2030 and LaQshya, also introduced in the same year, provides quality healthcare for the labor ward and maternity operation theater at government hospitals. Other governmental initiatives like Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, Janani Suraksha Yojana, and Mission Indradhanush, were also introduced to cater to rural women and their newborns. Working in alignment with the government, #InfosysFoundation has always introduced initiatives to protect newborns and children, by providing technology driven solutions to improve maternal, neonatal, and child health outcomes, through Project Early Life. In addition, the Foundation built world class infrastructure with a 9300 sq.m. maternity block in the Ramanagara district of Karnataka. #InfosysCSR | #childcare | #maternalcare | #infantcare | #healthcare

#InfosysFoundation understands the importance of educating women and children about their physical #health and well-being. Many of our initiatives and programs are centered around children’s health. One such initiative is the SWADHYAY program, by Infosys Foundation and the eVidyalokaTrust. The main objective is to set up digital classrooms and teach-through-television programs. With the aim of imparting knowledge about healthy lifestyle practices, school students were encouraged to participate in a #yoga session on June 21st, International Day of Yoga. Following this year’s theme of “Yoga for Self and Society”, a total of 649 students diligently participated across 39 schools in Karnataka. The students performed Surya Namaskar, Pranayama exercises, and other yoga asanas, under the guidance of Ms. Anasuya Puranik, a volunteer teacher from the eVidyalokaTrust. The most unique aspect about this yoga session, was that it was conducted virtually, as their teacher was located in the United States. This yoga session was an example of how digital classrooms were used to educate children about their health, for their holistic development, and how their learning is not restricted to their school curriculum. The session was held to help students relax and rejuvenate and motivate them to inculcate healthy practices into their daily life, for their overall development. The Foundation’s goal is to ensure that all children receive high-quality #education through the latest technology, while maintaining optimum health. #InfosysCSR | #yogaday

#InfosysFoundation has worked relentlessly towards making #healthcare affordable and accessible to women and children, especially in rural areas. When the Health Department of Karnataka, reached out to request assistance to reconstruct a government hospital wing, in Ramanagara district of Karnataka (60 kilometers away from Bengaluru), the Foundation took this opportunity to transform the maternity and child wing of the taluka hospital into a one-of-a-kind 100-bed hospital. The hospital block which is over a 9,300 sq.m., comprises of five floors, with state-of-the-art facilities, operation theaters, ICU equipment, and a pediatric ward. As a result of our efforts, there has been a surge in the number of patients visiting the hospital. From August 2023 to February 2024, about 8,616 new patients have visited the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, with 714 patients revisiting. And in the Pediatric Department, nearly 4,044 new patients and 1,981 revisits. The hospital caters to patients from Kanakapura, Arohalli, Ramanagara, and other nearby places bordering Bengaluru and Tamil Nadu. This hospital is a testament of our unwavering to further its mission of fulfilling the healthcare needs of underprivileged mothers and their children and empowering women. #InfosysCSR | #maternalhealth | #childcare | #Karnataka | #WomenEmpowerment | Infosys

    Chairperson at Murty Trust

In my first speech at the Rajya Sabha, I shed light on an issue that’s close to my heart. Coming from a family of doctors, I realised that women’s health is very important and often neglected. These learnings have taught me the significance of creating a secure healthcare system for women. Today, cervical cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths among women in India. Making the cervical cancer vaccine accessible to women at an early age is the first step to accelerating this change.

According to Statista, 69.1% of Indian women are literate, which is a 10 percent increase from 2011, which was at 59.29%. Aware of the vital role women play in the development of the country and society, and the importance of their education, the Government of India has introduced the Gender Inclusion Fund as a part of the National Education Policy (NEP), to provide access to vocational training, basic infrastructure like sanitation and toilets, and implement community – specific interventions to reduce the barriers that prevent their access to education. The goal is to diminish the gender gap in education and empower girl children. Following the same path, #InfosysFoundation has introduced various initiatives to educate girls and women in India, in partnership with Avanti Fellows, CITTA Education Foundation India, Ramakrishna Mission, and Go Sports. #InfosysCSR | #WomenEmpowerment | #STEMEducation | #DigitalSkills

Bringing Bengaluru’s lakes back to life. The natural lakes in and around Bengaluru city, once considered its pride, are now facing a multitude of challenges. Many are being repurposed, filled with sewage, waste, and now contain silt deposits. In recent years, the city has experienced water scarcity, highlighting the need to safeguard and replenish these vital water resources. Infosys Foundation dedicated to creating a more sustainable environment, decided to revive 5 lakes in and around Electronic City. One of the best examples of our efforts is Doddathogur Lake located in South Bengaluru. The lake was previously a source of drinking water, but due to severe pollution and groundwater contamination, the water body proved to be a health and environmental hazard to the local community (as seen in the ‘before’ picture). The decline in its holding capacity, caused flooding in the surrounding area during the monsoon season. This lake rejuvenation initiative has led to a pristine, clean lake, ready for the heavy monsoon rains (as seen in the ‘after’ picture). A walking track of about 2 km, 1,600 trees and 10,000 plants has further enhanced the environment. Overall, this project has transformed 197 acres of contaminated water bodies, that today provide accessible drinking water, benefitting over 500 borewells, improving irrigation practices of approximately 500 acres of agricultural land, and supplying water to the nearby villages. The addition of 50,000 trees and plants is predicted to improve overall biodiversity as well. #InfosysFoundation will continue working towards providing future generations a greener planet, by conserving and maintaining its natural resources. #CSR | #InfosysCSR | #Sustainability | #Environment
