Can AI detect depression from just 25 seconds of speech? Our new research published in The Annals of Family Medicine confirms that Kintsugi’s voice biomarker AI can identify moderate to severe depression with 71% sensitivity – compared to identification rates of just 47.3% in primary care. With depression affecting 21 million Americans each year, yet often going undiagnosed, this breakthrough could help bridge the gap in mental health screening – especially in primary care settings, where routine screening remains rare. AI-powered tools aren’t meant to replace clinical assessments, but they empower clinicians with real-time, objective insights, helping ensure patients get the support they need, when they need it.
