About us

The New York Jobs CEO Council is a results-oriented coalition led by the CEOs of some of New York’s largest employers collectively working to hire 100,000 low-income New Yorkers from predominantly Black, LatinX, and Asian communities by 2030, including 25,000 from the City University of New York (CUNY). Our member CEOs and partner organizations are collaborating to create new talent pipelines that meet evolving workforce needs and programs that prepare New Yorkers for the future of work. By bringing together business, education, and community leaders, we seek to 1) remove barriers to training and jobs 2) develop long-term stable career pathways 3) connect students and workers with in-demand skills

  • We stand by making the Jobs Council’s network every student’s network! By joining our Talent Network, students can join career-readiness programs such as the Career Development Forum and gain direct exposure to companies from our Industry Treks, where students are brought into Fortune 500 headquarters and connected with company recruiters and The City University of New York alumni. Our former student ambassador from Queens College, Victor W., found Jobs Council to be a great resource. Navigating the job search as a student and applying for internships is a daunting experience for many CUNY students. The Jobs Council's events and resources proved to be a critical resource and helped him land his role as a Summer 2024 Intern at Con Edison. Last year, over 900 CUNY students were hired as interns at our member companies. Of those, 459 interns received full-time offers. The Jobs Council resources are created to be the foundation that students can utilize as a catalyst for success. Read more about our impact on our annual report here: https://tr.ee/d0HB9IIBto

  • Early career exposure lays a foundation that impacts post-secondary outcomes for NYC talent, and programs like Genesys Works New York City are key to advancing career readiness for young professionals. Our Partnerships Intern, Naomi Duffie, recognized the value of pursuing her high school internship opportunity. As a junior, Naomi was selected to participate in the Genesys Works NYC program and following 8 weeks of in-depth summer training and professional development, embarked on a year-long internship at the Jobs Council during her senior year.  Naomi quickly jumped in to support several key projects - from researching new workforce development organizations, providing hands-on event support at our The City University of New York student-facing events and CEO Speaker Series, and advising on our social media strategy, she has put her analytical and creative skills to great use, built her confidence and has much to celebrate. Following her graduation in June and as her internship ends, Naomi will head to the University at Buffalo to study nursing. We are grateful to Naomi for her contributions to our team and look forward to her continued success! Thank you Genesys Works for your steadfast commitment to NYC students and for creating the opportunity for employers to participate in their career journey.    About Genesys Works NYC: Genesys Works NYC is a non-profit organization that partners with over 19 New York City public high schools to deliver meaningful work experience, that immerses students in the professional world, builds skills, explores interests, and fosters meaningful relationships. Their earn-and-learn model allows interns to develop professional skills and contribute meaningfully to their organizations while exploring their interests, honing their future aspirations, and receiving college and career coaching and support. • Wrapping up our intern celebration with a recap of our #NationalInternDay event hosted by Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center   We celebrated the talented interns' driving impact on their roles across various companies in New York City. High school and college interns all came together to network, share, and celebrate their accomplishments.    The event also featured a panel with #CUNYalumni across healthcare, accounting, investment banking, and consulting industries to advise students on how to stand out in their internship, how to receive feedback candidly, and how to overcome challenges. The biggest lesson shared was that you have to start somewhere!    Thank you to our panel –– Arlina Reyes, Joyce J., Arafath Radji, and Aileen W. for showing up for the next generation of interns.
