    Recent consumer surveys indicate rising inflation expectations, with tariffs playing a significant role. While this doesn’t necessarily mean consumers are less sensitive to price increases, it does suggest that they are anticipating higher costs. In some cases, domestic firms have adjusted prices in response to tariffs. For example, following washing machine tariffs in 2018, US manufacturers increased prices in line with tariffed imports.
