VC investments slowed in 2023, but it is great to see Proprio - a University of Washington spinout - make the list with a $43 million Series B round in 2023 following FDA clearance for its surgical navigation platform. "Proprio's flagship, FDA-approved platform Paradigm uses light field technology and artificial intelligence to generate a real-time, 3D visualization of surgery." The article states, "The platform eliminates the need for intraoperative scans, reducing radiation exposure and saving up to 30 minutes per procedure." #SurgicalRobotics #Robotics #NWRA #PNW

This is required reading if starting or running a robotics company. It's spot on in so many ways. Thank you Cascadia and our good friends at the Northwest Robotics Alliance. More so, this is why I'm passionate in helping Spyrosoft grow in this market: “What layers of tech stack can I buy vs. build” and the “...need to build the entire tech stack themselves … is no longer necessary." - and - "... avoid larger teams with much higher fixed costs…” "Facts" as the kids say.
Cascadia is a proud co-founder of the Northwest Robotics Alliance bringing together founders, CEOs, investors, and thought leaders on a regular basis to further the growth of the robotics industry in the region. Our latest event, An Insider’s Guide to Fundraising and Scaling for Robotics, featured a lively panel led by Firdaus Pohowalla focused on the recent market evolution, the key components of a scalable robotics company, and new fundraising benchmarks. The robotics community in the PNW is robust and growing and these events serve as a valuable resource to continue its growth and development. Check out our recap of this event here:
