"I currently teach 4th grade Reading, Writing and Social Studies. My first year of teaching many years ago I taught across the hall from my first-grade teacher…it was the most amazing first year ever and I learned so much!! Fast forward…I took a pretty long break from teaching to be a stay-at-home mom. I don’t regret it one bit, but I was very reluctant to be able to jump back into being a teacher after being “away” from the classroom for so many years. The school district made sure I had all the tools I needed to be successful and help my students achieve. As the old cliche goes “there is no I in TEAM”, that is for certain with the School District of Osceola County. I could not be doing what I do every day without my administrators, my incredible 4th grade team of teachers and my amazing partner teacher...my daughter!!! So thankful that the district has given me the opportunity to help students become successful alongside my daughter. It means so much as me, my husband and all three of my children are success stories of being taught in Osceola County (the youngest of my 3 is still attending the same high school we all went to!!). The best advice I can give to someone thinking of becoming a teacher in Osceola County is to put your students first!! You will be given the tools and guidance but make sure you put their education and needs above all else. Communication is key with your school and the parents of your students!! You never know what your student is going through when they walk out of your classroom, but you can control the positive environment and love they are getting while they are on your campus!! "I am an educator in the VPK classroom Osceola County for Early Childhood Education. I am blessed to teach our youngest learners. I am also a product of the Osceola County School District. As a young child I was very shy. I was fortunate enough to have teachers along the way to encourage me. So, I decided that I wanted to do that same thing for others in the district that I grew up in and for that reason I love my job. If you love children, if you have a passion for teaching, or if you would like to have an extended family, I encourage you to join our team." - Angela Owens, VPK Paraprofessional - Liberty High School.
