I'm thrilled to announce my next big adventure as the Founder and CEO of plait, a startup dedicated to improving the retail experience for Black hair care products. A few years ago, I walked out of a Black beauty supply store in my neighborhood, fed up with the lack of respect, options, and knowledge I encountered. I remember thinking, "there has to be a better way to shop for my hair care than this." While working full-time, I've been able to take that kernel of an idea through an entrepreneurship concentration at Chicago Booth, dozens of customer discovery interviews, and an accelerator through the Polsky Center. Those experiences confirmed what I suspected to be true—there's a very real demand for a solution like plait, and I'm eager to devote my time to honoring and addressing that demand. I'm so excited to take this next step, and I'm so grateful for all of the faculty, classmates, friends, and family that have supported me thus far.
