The The Wall Street Journal calls it the 60-year career. Evidence suggests it's the new thing, that 40-year careers and retirement in your mid-60s may be a movement of the past. Long life and good health contribute to this as does lack of retirement, inflation, cost of living, etc. Our own #ReturnUtah program was featured in a #YourMoneyBriefing podcast discussion on how #careerreentry programming may be a long term solution to hiring and retention over time, as longer careers could very well lead to the normalization of career breaks. Check out the episode "How to Avoid Burnout in a 60-Year Career." Also available on Audacy, Inc. and YouTube.

July’s jobs report holds no surprises. Year-over-year job growth remains on par with Utah’s long-term average at 3.0%. The state’s unemployment rate remains in historically low territory at 2.4%. This is an increase of 49,300 jobs since July 2022. The steady growth in Utah has led to a greater demand for workers. Last month we saw more teens, men 25-34, older women and Hispanic women joining the workforce. Teenagers are working more now. Older women are also working more, often in part-time jobs. Largest private sector gains: • Leisure and hospitality services: 17,500 jobs • Education and health services: 10,200 jobs • Other services: 4,400 jobs • Construction: 4,200 jobs Listen to Chief Economist Mark Knold shares his analysis: #utpol #utbiz #utecon
