About us

TechnoServe works with enterprising people in the developing world to build competitive farms, businesses, and industries. We are a nonprofit organization that develops business solutions to poverty by linking people to information, capital and markets. Our work is rooted in the idea that hardworking people can generate income, jobs and wealth for their families and communities. With five decades of proven results, we believe in the power of private enterprise to transform lives. Our success in creating business solutions to poverty is due in large part to our talented and highly committed team. TechnoServe employs more than 1,500 people, the vast majority of them host-country nationals working in the field. Our staff combine business expertise with local knowledge, relationships, and context to help hardworking men and women generate income, jobs and wealth for their families and communities. JDE Peet’s is proud to introduce Avanza Café, a new initiative partnering with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and TechnoServe aimed to transform coffee farming across Central America. By training over 35,000 farmers in Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, and Nicaragua, we’re working to boost coffee yields by 25%, cut carbon emissions, and raise household incomes by an average of 25%. The project will involve an investment of $15.3 million. With a focus on regenerative agriculture, Avanza Café helps farmers adopt sustainable practices that not only improve productivity but also enhance resilience to climate challenges. This initiative is a powerful example of how we bring our purpose to life - unleashing the possibilities of coffee and tea to create a better future - and of our Common Grounds programme, which positively impacts communities, the environment, and the coffee industry. In many low-income countries, small shops sell 80-90% of all consumer goods, often to customers that larger retailers miss. If these local businesses reach their full potential, they can be a game changer for local economies. So we’re thrilled to be expanding our approach with micro-retailers to El Salvador. #solutionstopoverty #adifferentwaytomakeadifference

CEO at TechnoServe, International Development Nonprofit

In #internationaldevelopment, we talk a lot about scaling what works. So it's always great to see it happen in practice. Yesterday, we launched a project that will take a proven model for boosting #smallbusiness performance to a new continent. Over the last several years, we've worked with thousands of small shops across #SubSaharanAfrica on a model that improves their revenue and #jobcreation, critical for local #economicgrowth. Now, we're scaling that approach with the new Micro-retail Development Project in #ElSalvador. With dedicated partners #USAID and #CBC, we will work with 44,000 (!) of the country's small shops--with 50% women participants--to: - Improve their business models to promote #sustainability and growth - Provide digital business training - Enhance their access to tailored credit products From the great launch event yesterday in San Salvador: 1 (L-R): H.E. William Duncan (Ambassador, U.S. Embassy in San Salvador), Maria Luisa Hayem Brevé (Minister of Economy of El Salvador), Gabriela Campuzano (TechnoServe's Latin America and Caribbean Regional Director), and Ziad Nahas (CEO of CBC) 2: Gabriela Campuzano addressing the audience Our amazing TechnoServe staff in El Salvador: 3 (L-R): Andrea Pérez de Novoa, Karen Osorio, Roxana Manzano de Díaz, Adriana Campos, Rocio Rivera, María José Santos, and Marcos Andrade 4 (L-R): Andrea Pérez de Novoa (Castro), MBA, Gabriela Campuzano, Oscar Artiga

Celebrating National Apple Day with Future Champions! On Monday, October 21st, the TechnoServe team in Nigeria commemorated #NationalAppleDay with exciting visits to three schools across Delta and Kano States! We had a fantastic experience connecting with eager students at: * Salvation Ministry Nursery & Primary School, Illah, Delta State * St. Martin College, Issele-Uku, Delta State * Karfi Special Primary School, Karfi, Kano State Our day was filled with joy as we shared fresh apples 🍎 and branded exercise books with the students. We also engaged them in lively discussions about the health benefits of apples and how making nutritious food choices can positively impact their well-being. A heartfelt thank you to the teachers and students for their warm welcome and enthusiastic participation! It was a privilege to witness their excitement, and we are grateful to contribute to nurturing young minds—one healthy bite at a time! Let’s continue promoting healthy lifestyles and spreading the joy of learning across communities!
