When the Southern California wildfires broke out last month, emergency response personnel worked around the clock to evacuate residents and contain their spread. As of Saturday, February 1st, the Eaton Fire and the Palisades fire are both at 100% containment. As we continue to support the communities affected by the LA wildfires, we are starting to transition from immediate relief efforts to long-term resilience building & recovery projects. That's why we've organized MultiCon, a one-day celebration of all things nerdy in the heart of Hollywood...with all proceeds benefitting wildfire recovery efforts at the United Way of Greater Los Angeles. We need community now more than ever. At a time when the entertainment industry is struggling, we're grateful for the chance to create economic opportunities for those who have experienced back-to-back crises. Our 2025 Mentorship Program kicked off its second year last Saturday with an incredible group of mentors and mentees! Students from Los Angeles City College, Los Angeles Trade Technical College, and West Los Angeles College filled the classroom with inspiration and enthusiasm as they shared their aspirations with their mentors. During the first session, they received valuable guidance to set their college and career goals. We can't wait to see the amazing growth and success stories that will come from this five-month journey! 🚀

When people ask me why I work at a non-profit, it gives me a chance to share how charities like the United Way have connected me with mentors who have shaped my leadership. This morning kicks off United Way of Greater Los Angeles's Community College Mentorship Program and I'm proud of the Mentees and Mentors who've woken up early today to start this journey over the next five months.
