About us

The USAID Global Health Supply Chain Program–Procurement and Supply Management (GHSC-PSM) project connects technical solutions, experts, and proven commercial processes to promote efficient and cost-effective health supply chains worldwide. Our goal is to ensure uninterrupted supplies of health commodities to save lives and to create a healthier future for all. The project directly supports five global health areas of importance to the U.S. government: • The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief to help reach the global 90-90-90 HIV/AIDS testing, treatment, and viral load suppression targets • The U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative to reduce malaria deaths and substantially decrease malaria morbidity, towards the long-term goal of elimination • USAID’s population and reproductive health program to ensure that key reproductive health commodities are available for safe and reliable family planning • USAID’s maternal, newborn, and child health program to help prevent child and maternal deaths • Other public health threats as they emerge, with support for Zika and Ebola at this time Working across Africa, Asia, Central America, and the Caribbean, we operate in some of the world’s most challenging environments to ensure that lifesaving health supplies reach those most in need. The project purchases and delivers health commodities, offers comprehensive technical assistance to strengthen national supply chain systems, and provides global supply chain leadership. Since our launch, we have procured commodities for more than 50 countries, established 30 field offices, and provided technical assistance in supply chain functions in 40 countries.

  • GHSC-PSM’s impact in #Malawi was on full display during this week’s management visit from Rebecca Logan, Chemonics International’s Senior Vice President and Country Programs Manager. Our efforts in Malawi have included support in: - Improving medical commodity storage and management at Kabudula Community Hospital - Distributing COVID-19 vaccines and PPE to all 29 districts through the Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) - Tracking vaccines through EPI and the Open logistics management information system (OpenLMIS) - Rolling out the electronic logistics management information system (eLMIS), in partnership with Malawi's Ministry of Health, to improve the reporting and ordering of commodities. By meeting directly with stakeholders, we’re able to get first-hand insights into the impacts our project has supported in the areas of health systems strengthening and supply chain management.

🌟 I'm thrilled to share my recent participation at the 30th Nigerian Economic Summit, focused on "Collaborative Action for Growth, Competitiveness, and Stability." 🌟 As a panelist, I had the honor of discussing the readiness of the Nigerian market for increased local manufacturing of medicines alongside esteemed experts. My contributions drew from my experience managing large-scale warehousing and distribution operations, with an emphasis on the logistics challenges we face in delivering quality lifesaving products to the last mile—especially in rural and underserved areas. 🚚 Key Takeaways: - Overcoming logistics challenges is essential for ensuring timely access to essential products in all corners of the country. - Public-Private Partnerships (PPPs) can be transformative in strengthening our warehousing and distribution infrastructure, combining resources for improved outcomes. - Engaging and incentivizing local investors to support infrastructure development, operational efficiencies, and sustainable financing is key to building a resilient supply chain system. A big thank you to the organizers and all who supported me in this opportunity to give back to my community. Together, we can create a conducive environment for increased local manufacturing of quality lifesaving medicines and enhance our supply chains to better serve Nigerians! #NigerianEconomicSummit #NES30 #LocalManufacturing #SupplyChain #Logistics #Warehousing #PublicPrivatePartnership #SustainableDevelopment #BuildingEconomicResilience #Empowerment #InTheNationalInterest Mariya Saleh Chris Wright Chukwudi Uche, MSc, FCIPS (Chartered), PRINCE 2 Kehinde (Kenny) Otto Zainab Saidu Gloria Iloeje Ameh Ameh Matthew Attah Dinda James Jiru Bako Ladi Stephen

Read the GHSC-PSM story in Eswatini >>> https://lnkd.in/ge4GQjTk ✅ reduced costs ✅ reduced waste ✅ increased productivity ✅ higher quality service delivery ✅ improved customer satisfaction ✅ greater employee satisfaction ✅ safer work environment ✳ 5S provides a solid base for deploying other advanced methodologies that drive productivity, quality, and continuous improvement  #Health #Supply #Chain #ContinuousImprovement

    • "5S" comes from five Japanese words that all start with the letter "S": Seiri, Seiton, Seiso, Seiketsu, and Shitsuke. These principles help create a more organized, efficient, and safe work environment.

Mental Health Check in - The Supply Chain Professional Supply chain saves countless lives everyday by ensuring that essential medicines and other health products are delivered to countless people across the world. And of course, this is not just limited to health. However, sometimes it is easy to forget that behind every tablet that gets placed in the hand of a beneficiary, there were human beings who put in a lot of effort to get the right product to that location - at the right time and the right state. These people are the several professionals across the entire continuum of the supply chain. Supply chain professionals are quite acquainted with working under pressure - and this became heightened post-COVID when supply chain functions became more critical than ever. The weight of responsibility on supply chain professionals is immense. They often face high workloads and tight deadlines, working late into the night, tackling endless emails and coordinating shipments to ensure timely delivery of these lifesaving products. In a recent conversation, I remember saying that “just knowing that lives depend on the efficiency of your work, makes you forget about yourself to give your best to see the work succeed”. Having been in this industry for more than a decade, I know this is what drives most supply chain professionals too. Hence many professionals within the supply chain space live in this perpetual cycle of pressure. This constant pressure to meet demands and manage complex logistics can lead to chronic stress and burnout. Ultimately, these take a toll on the wellbeing of these high performers. While not common themes on many discussion tables, this affects us all and needs more attention. So today, as the world commemorates, I take the opportunity to celebrate these often-uncelebrated heroes of development who ensure that lifesaving medicines are delivered to the vulnerable irrespective of geography or socioeconomic class. Today is a reminder that behind every tablet, email and shipment, there’s a human being with a story, sometimes battling their own set of challenges. As supply chain professionals, let today be a reminder that mental health is not a luxury but a priority. Navigating the demands of professional life can be challenging, but mental well-being is essential for a productive and fulfilling career. What ways are you taking care of your mental wellbeing? Please share your thoughts and wisdom in the comments so we can all learn and continue to win together. #ilovemyjob #supplychainsavelives #WorldMentalHealthDay

  • In #Ghana’s hot and humid climate, keeping medicines at the right temperature is critical. The September 2023 End Use Verification (EUV) Survey revealed that only 60% of regional warehouses had storeroom thermometers, and just 50% consistently monitored temperatures daily—a significant concern regarding ensuring stable storage conditions. To address this, GHSC-PSM partnered with the Ghana Health Service to install smart temperature monitoring systems in 5 regional warehouses (Bono East, Central, Northern, Upper East, and Volta), bringing the total number of regional warehouses equipped with smart temperature monitoring system to 10. These systems, which are also installed in cold chain equipment, track temperature, and humidity every 5 minutes, sending real-time alerts when readings fall outside recommended levels. Additionally, 47 warehouse staff were trained to use and maintain the system, empowering them to take appropriate necessary measures. This initiative will contribute to safeguarding the quality of medicines in Ghana.

  • We are proud to support workers all along the #health supply chain to keep children and babies safe and healthy. By making sure the right supplies - like easy-to-administer antibiotics and functional respiratory equipment - are consistently available and of good quality, these workers are helping address the leading causes of child mortality. From policy and financing to last mile delivery, we can make a difference to improving child health outcomes. This #ChildHealthDay, we thank our partners all over the world for making this work possible!
