Our new President and CEO Paul Burdiss didn’t hesitate to roll up his sleeves and roll on a coat of fresh blue paint at the West Valley City home of Vietnam veteran Randy Nielsen and his wife, Virginia. For the past 32 years, Zions Bankers have embraced the opportunity to help freshen up the homes and yards of our elderly, disabled and veteran neighbors during our annual Paint-a-Thon community service project. #ZionsCommunity

We recently presented a $12,500 donation to Faces of Hope to support the intake room at its new Boise office. Western Idaho Region President Deneen May presented the check to Executive Director Paige Dinger. Faces of Hope provides a safety net of emergency services to people experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, child abuse, elder abuse, stalking and human trafficking. We are grateful for the work they do, including offering victim crisis counseling, case management, legal support and access to emergency services.

Crawfishing trips with his son Jake were the inspiration for Mike Burrell to create more effective traps and start his company, Crayster, in 2005. “We didn’t create our traps to make money — we had a passion for crawfishing and wanted to share it with others,” Burrell says. “Our customers recognize our shared passion and it’s created strong brand loyalty.” In this article, Burrell shares strategies for cultivating a loyal following as well as how Zions Bank has supported his business for two decades: https://lnkd.in/gmwBWN4u #SmallBusiness #Entrepreneur

Congratulations to our Boise Main branch manager Ken Spencer for being named 2023 Ambassador of the Year by the Boise Metro Chamber. Ambassadors develop relationships with new chamber members, educating them on programs and services, inviting them to events, and attending grand openings and ribbon cuttings. Spencer shared the honor with Melissa Gossage of Complete Office LLC after they tied for the number of points received. In 2024, he was named co-vice president (with Gossage) of the Boise Metro Chamber Ambassadors after serving as Education chair in 2023. #ZionsBanker #ZionsCareers #ZionsCommunity #YouBelongHere

Our multicultural employee forum celebrated Juneteenth with a panel discussion featuring Black leaders in Utah and Idaho. Moderated by Sandra Hollins,L.C.S.W, panelists Sidni Lloyd-Shorter,PsyD of the Utah Black Chamber, Cleopatra Louise of Salt Lake County Economic Development and Akilah Lacey of the City of Pocatello Police Department discussed the meaning of and misconceptions about the holiday, the importance of preserving history, and suggestions for honoring Juneteenth in a meaningful way. Above all, the panelists agreed on the importance of education and engagement. “This is our history,” Shorter said. “When I say our history, it is inclusive of everyone. That’s what the celebrations are for. It’s not just for us in the context of being Black people, it truly is a part of the American landscape.” Thanks to our forum leadership for organizing this impactful conversation: Wilhelmina France Adua, MBA GCOSCM, Robin Kaio-Tuaitanu, Pauliasi Kakau, Nicki Shirley and Adam Velasquez. #Juneteenth #ZionsCareers #YouBelongHere

We were excited to participate in the recent groundbreaking for Canal Commons, a 10-unit affordable housing development in Green River, Utah. This rural community has struggled to attract workers due to a shortage of affordable housing, which has been exacerbated by its remote location and higher construction costs. Zions Bank sponsored and was awarded a $150,000 Affordable Housing Program grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines. The funds will support the first phase of construction, which includes five rental houses.
Early families in this Utah desert town ‘literally had to bring a house with them.’ That’s practically still true.
