Since 2007, the City of Asheville has not added a new fire station to their city, but now in 2023 Asheville Fire Station 13 is officially open! We are honored to have been a part of this journey in designing and erecting this amazing LEED Certified facility that will house both the fire department and police department. Included in this new 2-story, 3-bay fire station are living quarters, offices, training facilities, fitness room, emergency operations center and a satellite police station. What a special day as Garner Main EMS officially opens to serve the community! Over the last year, emergency calls have increased by 13% in Garner and this new regional station will help improve response times to local communities. Included in this new facility are three full vehicle bays for up to six response units, training spaces, offices, kitchen, dayroom, vehicle fleet supplies and other programs to support medical responders. Sustainability features were incorporated throughout the design process as part of Garner’s mission to achieve clean energy by 2050. We are delighted to introduce our new team member Prisca Musa as our project assistant. In this role, Prisca works alongside our project managers to assist in schematic and general design. Prisca graduated from South Dakota State University where she earned her Bachelors in Architecture and minors in construction management and design studies. Later, Prisca continued her architecture education at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where she completed her Master’s degree. In Prisca’s passion for architecture, she enjoys translating the function of spaces and recognizing the beauty of forms. We are delighted to introduce our new team member Naomi Perakis as our newest IPAL Intern. In this role, Naomi works as a project assistant for the Design Team and assist our teams with various tasks such as marketing and digital design. Naomi is an undergraduate student at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte working on her Bachelors in Architecture and a minor in urban studies. She plans to use her minor in urban studies to design spaces that help communities and their surrounding environment. She is excited to start her career with us. We are delighted to introduce our new team member Lydia Chapman as our project assistant. In this role, Lydia supports every phase of our projects, from early design to construction administration by developing drawings and coordinating with engineers. Lydia graduated from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte with her Bachelors in Architecture and later graduated with her Master’s Degree where she earned the Excellence in Urbanism Award. Lydia is very passionate about sustainable design and believes that architects have an opportunity to be responsible with their projects and manage their environmental impact.
