We believe that advocacy and education can make positive change for those who need support. This #PrideMonth, our Agios Pride ERG hosted an educational webinar with one of the strongest and most inspirational voices in #LGBTQIA advocacy, Choon Young Tan. Our Pride ERG works directly with Agios leadership and Human Resources to develop policies and practices that positively impact our LGTBQ+ colleagues. Thank you to those who contribute to our inclusive workplace and continue to provide a network that supports the professional development of LGBTQ+ team members.

Every organization and every person can make a difference for fellow LGBTQA+ employees by creating a psychologically safe space, supporting your LGTBQA+ employees, learn what’s happening in their states & find ways to get the support! Together we have the power to change this statistic & foster cultures where inclusivity is not just words on a website, but rather actions that matter! #PsychologicalSafety #LGBTQA #EmotionalIntelligence
If you need a study to prove it, here it is. 80% of LGBTQ people feel less safe because of anti-LGBTQ legislation being passed in this country. Specifically, the gender affirming care bans. Even if you yourself are not trans, these outright attacks on our trans community members conjure fear for one’s safety and future as an LGBTQ person in this country. This fear can be felt deeply across the spectrum of sexual and gender identities. We are not siloed members of a community. What impacts our trans community members impacts us all. We must stand united against these attacks and protect our right to safely EXIST! Source: Human Rights Campaign https://bit.ly/3LalSWK #LGBTQ #Equality #Safety #Community

“When anti-LGBTQ+ legislation is introduced, it not only aims to legislate LGBTQ+ people out of all spaces of daily life, it also codifies discrimination and stigma into law.” The HRC’s latest report shows: -8 in 10 LGBTQ+ adults feel that gender-affirming care bans worsen harmful stereotypes, discrimination, hate, and stigma -79% of LGBTQ+ adults say gender-affirming care bans make them feel less safe (this jumps to 94% for transgender and non-binary adults) -Over 62% of LGBTQ+ adults would refuse to attend school in or move to a state where a gender-affirming care ban was in place It’s our job as health care leaders to hear what the LGBTQ+ community is saying and help educate others about this virulent attack on patient rights and health equity. One of the most compelling examples of this is Harvey Milk, whose fearless advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights demonstrated just how much one voice can impact the world. Harvey Milk used his platform not just to speak, but to inspire. His courage to stand up for equality paved the way for many of the freedoms enjoyed today, proving that when we speak up, we can dismantle the walls of exclusion. Now, we turn the spotlight to you: When have you used your voice to foster inclusion? Have you ever spoken out to bridge divides or challenge the status quo? Let’s celebrate those moments where speaking up made a difference, big or small. #inspiringleaders #publicspeaking
