Interesting news! Accenture has partnered with multinational consumer goods company, Unilever, to leverage AI research and implement technologies for enhancing productivity, increasing efficiencies, and accelerating AI-based innovations. The partnership will operate from Unilever’s new AI lab, Horizon3 Labs, based in Toronto which is also home to one of Accenture's Gen AI studios. The collaboration will scale the applications of generative AI using assets from Accenture's AI Navigator and Switchboard. Julie Sweet, CEO of Accenture, and Steve McCrystal, Unilever's chief enterprise and technology officer, both expressed enthusiasm about extending their organizations' three-decade relationship to scale AI use and uncover new avenues for business value. "We are excited about building on our long-standing partnership with Accenture to step up our innovation agenda and drive value for our consumers, retailers, and distributors. Horizon3 Labs is a unique platform for collaboration and co-creation, and we look forward to working with Accenture and other partners to take our investment in AI to a new level," said Steve McCrystal, chief enterprise and technology officer, Unilever. Accenture is set to enhance Unilever's use of data and AI leveraging its existing $3 billion investment in these areas. As part of the initiative, Unilever will gain access to Accenture's leading data and AI experts, ecosystem partnerships, ventures, and strategic investments housed in its Center for Advanced AI. L'Oréal CEO Nicolas Hieronimus sees #AI playing a key role in driving growth for the company in the year ahead. The French #cosmetics giant reported sales of 11.24 billion euros for the first three months to the end of March, up 8.3% on a reported basis. Sales in both North America and Europe grew by more than 12%, as its mass market range and dermatological products compensated for weakness in the #luxury segment. Speaking during the #beauty company’s earnings call last month, CEO Nicolas Hieronimus also confirmed that L'Oréal plans to use #ArtificialIntelligence to expand data-driven insights, boost researcher creativity and speed up work. L'Oreal’s data platform already houses 10 petabytes of #data, which teams use to power all types of AI models, including the latest LLMs. AI-related plans are part of nearly every beauty company’s strategy: Estée Lauder explored various #genAI use cases submitted by employees last year. Procter & Gamble also worked with OpenAI’s technology last year, rolling out an internal #generativeAI tool built using OpenAI’s API. How do you use #AI in your marketing teams?

AI and it's impact on business. I had an opportunity this week to participate in webinar facilitated by Korn Ferry entitled Growth Secrets of the Worlds Most Admired Companies. The webinar involved the heads of innovation for Procter & Gamble and Mastercard. Although their experience is more related to B to C business, I thought their insights were so relevant, particularly as it relates to AI. The head of innovation for P&G emphasized that AI accelerated innovation in some of their product categories. Specifically, AI could help P&G sort through millions of options in molecules and sort the best options for successful product innovation. One of the other interesting points shared was that AI is blurring historic boundaries of functions and from a candidate sourcing perspective it made it critical to better define roles. A surprising takeaway for me was revealed during a survey facilitated during the webinar. 90% of participants felt that people were more important than technology to drive innovation and growth.
