During his final days as president, Donald Trump clashed with Snoop Dogg behind the scenes as the rapper sought clemency for his imprisoned friend, Death Row Records co-founder Michael “Harry-O” Harris, according to an exclusive report by Rolling Stone. At the time of the feud, the 45th president was reportedly angry at Snoop because of the rapper’s past insults toward him, including in a 2018 interview in which Snoop called Trump and his supporters racist. As we wind down the sharing of calendar entries for #BlackHistoryMonth, it looks like we saved one of the BEST for (almost) last. If you followed yesterday's post about Black Senators, and the 86-year gap between the first two and the third, this page explains that. Worse, it still continues today. Why has there not been a massive class-action lawsuit against states refusing to let convicted felons vote? There is no Constitutional justification for that policy, and worse, there seems to be a systematic disenfranchising of Black voters through felony charges, often when those same crimes would be misdemeanors if committed by a non-Black defendant, and in some cases, made up entirely. If you've never seen the film American Violet, I highly recommend checking it out. https://lnkd.in/ewxn_zn6 It's the true story of how one small town in Texas changed election outcomes by rounding up Black people and coercing them into pleading to felonies just to be let out of jail, then kicking them out of public housing and taking away their voting rights. This went on for years. And let's not pretend Hearne, Texas is the only place that happened...

Does the phrase “Support Black Businesses” actually hurt black businesses by separating us from everyone else? Is it just another form of Affirmative Action when we do get token support from big business? Stay tuned for my analysis on The Ron Kelly Show. Shibtee Clothing's T-shirts have taken the United States by storm, becoming a trending fashion sensation.
Hey everyone! I just came across the most hilarious and eye-catching shirt that I couldn't resist sharing with you all. It's called the "My Ass Got Arrested" shirt from Shibtee Clothing. Now, before you judge, let me tell you why this shirt is making waves on social media! First things first, this shirt is a playful take on the popular "MAGA" slogan, which stands for "Make America Great Again." Instead, it says "My Ass Got Arrested," adding a humorous twist to the political climate. It's definitely a shirt that will turn heads and spark conversations wherever you go. But that's not all! The design features a meme-inspired image of Donald Trump's mug shot, which adds a whole new level of hilarity to the shirt. It's a clever play on the controversies surrounding the former president, and it's sure to make people chuckle. Plus, who doesn't love a good meme? What I f - sec18u64rd - https://lnkd.in/ghjQCVi5

Defund the police. If that sounds scary, or you think "but who will protect us from the bad guys", please know that abolition is not a naive statement or a wish to vanish all social structures overnight. Abolition means: • developing a wide range of appropriate social services to tackle social problems - and really tackle them, at the root cause level. • focusing on what actually makes communities safe. Police presence doesn't make communities safer. In fact, the most highly policed communities are usually the most violent. • Healthcare, housing, jobs, mental health support. We've let policing play the role of some of these services in recent years and in many countries, including the USA. When safe housing, jobs and healthcare is there, a lot of the symptoms that police try to tackle - don't necessarily disappear, but are greatly lessened and can be tackled more properly. • Policing is institutionally racist and sexist. No, I'm not saying that you're a bad person if you work for the police. That's not it at all. I repeat: I'm not saying you're a bad person. I'm saying that the institution of policing is set up to prioritise the protection of private property, not to protect and care for Black and brown bodies, women, trans and gender non-conforming people. • Policing doesn't prevent violence. It enacts it. • Ta'Kiya Young should be alive today. She should be safely at home with her two children and one more on the way. • She should be living her life, and watching her children grow up. • If you're pro-policing, or you think we just need more body cams, more training on violence de-escalation, I totally get why you would be in favour of that. I can see that side of things. • But consider previous movements that tried to tweak this or that detail to make policing less deadly. Like the movement to ban chokeholds. It's tempting to think that this change or that change will stop Black and brown people from being disproportionately injured and killed by police forces. It won't. • The more I learn about policing, the more I discover that police don't protect us. (Again, if you work in the police please don't think I'm attacking you! I really don't think that you are a bad person, that you have set out to do any harm, or that you're not working your hardest to keep people safe. I'm talking about the institution and its overall impact.) If you're curious and want to learn more, I really recommend reading Derecka Purnell's phenomenal book "Abolition Now." In her extraordinary book, Purnell shows how she went on a journey from wanting to reform, to eventually defund and replace, policing as we know it. It's a life-changing book and I can't recommend it highly enough (especially if you're white or white passing). #RestInPower #BlackLivesMatter #SayHerName

Ta'Kiya Young should still be with us. 💔🖤 Body camera footage of Ohio police executing this pregnant, 21-year old Black woman has been released, showing how within 30 seconds of a demand to exit the vehicle, Ta'Kiya was publicly executed on 24 August by police officers sworn to "serve and protect". Defenceless, unarmed. Leaving a grocery store, stopped and accused of stealing alcohol. Shot in the car park, through the windshield of her car. This wouldn't have happened to a white woman. I'm not posting the footage - there are enough receipts to last all of our lifetimes. Here's a picture of Ta'Kiya instead. She had two young children at home and had been looking forward to welcoming her unborn baby girl in November. These are foreseeable consequences of white supremacist systems. The urgency of addressing our anti-Blackness and racist ideologies has never been more clear. The fact it keeps happening is suggestive, instead, of a system that is working exactly as intended. Ta'Kiya Young should still be with us. 💔🖤 #Justice4TaKiya #BlackLivesMatter [image description: a picture of a young, smiling Black woman named Ta'Kiya Young, alongside the words, "Say Her Name - Rest In Peace Ta'Kiya Young - Femicide is Genocide"]

Trigger Warning~ PLAUSIBLE DENIABILTY~ It’s the depraved secrets we take to the grave… This is so disturbing I’m only posting because “white” folks MUST understand what people who look like us have done and CONTINUE to do. WE MUST FACE THE DEPTHS OF THE WARPED DEPRAVITY. The plausible deniability is real. It can be about anything. It can be something small. It can be something huge. No one can read your mind AND NO ONE CAN READ YOUR INTENSIONS. Are you intentionally not invited to the party? Or was it just an oversight? Did you not get the job because someone else was better qualify? Was it something else? Are the pregnant black woman’s symptoms taken seriously by the doctor? Or is her pain brushed off… she’ll be OK “her people” are used to handling this type of thing… Did the EMT give up to you soon? Or was there really no a chance for survival?
Reading this made me cry. An ex-firefighter told a Black TikToker he used to leave Black people to die in burning homes. Alion said the man told him he used to be a firefighter in the 60s and 70s which he described as a “very different time.” He then said that it was very common in those days for “firefighters who look like him” to leave people that look like Alion (ahem, Black people) in burning houses and write it off as not being able to get to them. He then recalled to Alion hearing the vivid screams of the Black people and children left in houses, cars or even stores that were set ablaze. The man said he pretended he didn’t hear them. The old former firefighter told Alion his last straw was when it came to saving a Black infant. Despite making eye contact with the Black baby, he faked as if he was going to save them and left the Black child to burn to death. Then, he quit the fire department. Since then, the man told Alion he still suffers with horrible nightmares from those instances when he purposefully left innocent Black people to die and hasn’t forgiven himself for what he’d done. For Alion, he said he was left shook by the realization that racism wasn’t just exclusive to crooked cops, lawyers or judges, but firefighters as well. Eerily enough, this comes a year after a Flint mother sued the city and fire department for the same claim: leaving her two Black boys for dead. Per The Daily Beast, two white firefighters left the boys inside a burning home and lied about clearing the room they were stuck in. Each of the white firefighters involved have since resigned from the Flint Fire Department. #racism #firefighter #blackbodies #beingblackinamerica

Leaders cannot please everyone with every decision. But they should have the guts to own it. Cowards and insecure teenagers go behind peoples’ backs, cheap shot, make up reasons or bully the persons’s family to avoid having to answer for their wrong doings WHEN THEY GET CAUGHT… Walmart Corporate’s leaders absolutely had knowledge in August of 2020. #Negligence is a crime. They aren’t stupid, they know wrong from right and what’s in their ethics policies regarding discrimination and harassment. Many of their “heroes” knew me from support tickets. Corporate schmucks knew they would think less of corporate if the truth got out. But the truth could risk business in India. So LET’S RISK AMERICA. So greedy which is how all top dogs fall to the bottom We’ll see what their younger customers think. #MentalHealthMatters OR shopping with Walmart? We shall see! This young punk has a lot of energy, creativity and I’ll be sharp for a while. 😘. “Move on. You need help Dayton.” - I’ll win. And it’ll take a third of the time it would’ve taken to settle in an unfair, Arkansas jurisdiction court fight. I’d have swung at a corporate lawyer too. Don’t wait for me to snap either. I hate them too much to mess up or ruin my future. I’d rather do a remix of Morgan Wallen’s “whiskey glasses” so TikTokers can be reminded what they’re supporting with their money ➡️ Alice Walton’s DUI and fetish with killing innocent mothers. #ProtectAmericanWorkers

There was a LOT of online speculation that a deadly mass shooting at a Juneteenth celebration in Round Rock, Texas was "motivated by white supremacy". Two black women were shot dead. Thought you might want to know that Ricky Thompson III has been arrested. That's all. REPOST for widespread exposure!! #thinblueline #lawenforcement

I'm a Norte Americano (North American), realizing my dream of living in Latin America. If you're thinking of moving abroad, let's chat.
1. Businesses, and their managers, sometimes shouldn't be responsible for the conduct of their employees! 2. Police need to act appropriately! 3. When the police are misinformed, bad behavior should be expected and those misinforming the police should either share in the blame/responsibility or be the ONLY PEOPLE with blame and responsibility! From the article, it sounds like the police acted on their own and so, in this case, it seems like 100% responsibility for this TRAVESTY should go to the officers involved and there should be an investigation into whether they should remain police officers!
"Too often, Black and Brown people suffer violence at the hands of police. It’s devastating to see police – again and again – treat Black lives with such callous disregard. It’s tragic that a Black person simply trying to enjoy a meal with his family is automatically seen as suspicious and that officers feel free to behave recklessly, violently, and unjustifiably, even toward a man holding a baby."
