The end of a brilliant two days at the WindEurope #EoLIS conference. The personal highlights for me were the discussions around life extension of onshore and offshore assets. The value of these strategies are not always well supported by regulation but Net Zero is going to be impossible if we continue to think in terms of 20-25 year developments. I was also impressed by the efforts of some suppliers to embed increasing quantities of pre-used materials in future projects. 📹 A short video of the Mihovljan field site visit in Medjimurje County, owned by INA Grupa, which we saw as part of a TRANSGEO Project partner meeting organized by the Croatian partner Medjimurje Energy Agency Ltd. 🎤 We heard that due to its geographical location and natural resources, Medjimurje County is a region with high energy potential, whereby there is great possibility of using renewable energy sources. Did you know Portugal is on the cusp of an offshore wind energy revolution? A huge thanks to WavEC - Offshore Renewables in Lisbon, for orchestrating the insightful #WavECSeminar2023.🌊   🇵🇹 As Portugal gears up for its first offshore wind auction, the timing couldn't be more perfect. The seminar not only highlighted Portugal's potential but also showcased the Netherlands' expertise in this domain.   Here are some key insights : 1️⃣ 𝗜𝗻-𝗗𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗵 𝗧𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 & 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀: Explored the tendering processes in Portugal and the Netherlands, focusing on non-price criteria, public data availability, and streamlining local content requirements. 👉Key takeaway: Efficiency and preparedness are crucial in tender processes.   2️⃣ 𝗥𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗟𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀: Emphasized the need for a robust regulatory framework and government support for investment in infrastructure and innovation. Explored innovative approaches like integrating floating solar panels with wave energy and offshore wind, and the potential for multi-use development within wind farms (👋 offshore aquaculture 🐟). 🌍 The journey from Amsterdam to Portugal was enlightening, and I'm thrilled to bring these discussions to France at the upcoming MEDTRIX Colloque and Forum EnerGaïa in Montpellier 🇫🇷.
