A team including Sentient Science has been assembled by RTX (Raytheon Technology Research Center) and awarded an America Makes project entitled "Model Enabled Delta-Qual (MEDAL-QUAL) (Topic 1, Project 2). The overall program goal is to advance #additivemanufacturing by providing a framework that others in industry can use to successfully delta-qual machines of different makes/models and bring certified #aerospace components to market in a far more flexible environment compared to the current status quo. They will be giving the following presentations:   Mr. Colvin will be presenting “Solid State Additive Manufacturing and Repair of Metallic Components and Structures Using the MELD® Process” on March 12th. We will discuss detailed microstructures and properties for a number of alloys as we have developed alloy and part-specific techniques for a wide variety of geometries and performance requirements. Much of the talk’s focus will be on directionality in properties comparing X, Y, and Z directions and associated orientations for fracture toughness and corrosion properties.   Mr. Colvin and Dr. Meisami will be presenting “Additive Friction Stir Deposition (AFSD) of Al6061 for Vacuum Chamber Fabrication” on March 12th.
