Hydroelectric dam penstocks often require preventative maintenance to ensure optimal operation. However, manual inspections pose significant dangers and may not offer a comprehensive picture of the state of the system over time. To address this challenge, we developed a unique robotic system by integrating components from Trimble Applanix’s Indoor Mobile Mapping Solution (TIMMS) onto our Husky robot. The robot is also equipped with our OutdoorNav Autonomy Software making the system ideal for a full inspection workflow. Researchers at Northwestern University’s Center for Robotics and Biosystems have recently developed new collaborative mobile robots, dubbed Omnid Mocobots. These robots, introduced in a paper pre-published on arXiv, are designed to cooperate with each other and with humans to safely pick up, handle, and transport delicate and flexible payloads. Teams of mobile robots could be highly effective in helping humans to complete straining manual tasks, such as manufacturing processes or the transportation of heavy objects. In recent years, some of these robots have already been tested and introduced in real-world settings, attaining very promising results. This robot has three important features that set it apart from other robots, making it particularly well-suited for manipulating objects in close collaboration with other humans and Omnid Mocobots:- -Firstly, the robot arms have built-in mechanical compliance,” Elwin explained. “This ‘softness’ means that the robots are safer for human interaction and are less likely to damage the object compared to typical robot arms. -Second, the robot arms are designed to precisely control forces at their grippers, unlike most industrial robot arms. -Third, the control laws governing the mobile base and manipulator are designed to allow teams of Omnids to cooperatively render a large object weightless to the human collaborator. #Cobots #Mocobots #CollaborativeMobileRobots #Transportation #OmnidMocobots #Intralogistics

Hi there! I am happy to share a new technical article about Forester (The orchestration framework based on behavior trees and written completely with Rust). This article demonstrates how to use Rust, Webots and Forester together in a simple example of the simulation of a robot vacuum cleaner.

We can use ros2_control for controlling hardware of robot . I use it for controlling my robotic base by giving velocity command. There are thee major parts in ros2_control 1) diff_drive_controller 2) Controller manager 3) Hardware interface diff_drive_controller: it converts the command velocity into abstract wheel velocities Hardware interface is going to convert abstract wheel velocity into motor hardware commands upon which robot will move Controller manager sit in the middle and links diff_drive_controller and hardware interface We can visualize robot motion in Rviz and get know the position of robot by using odometry #ros2_control #ROS2 #RVIZ
